About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. For this role, OpenTrain is the hiring and contracting organization, connecting contributors with practical work that helps improve modern AI systems.

  • Fully remote contract work
  • Part-time schedule with 20+ hours per week
  • Hourly pay of $10-$35 USD
  • Entry-level opportunity

About AI Audio Training

AI systems learn from carefully prepared examples, including accurately transcribed speech. Audio transcription editors help models understand real spoken language by correcting machine-generated text, checking timing, and identifying unclear or overlapping audio.

  • Contribute to better speech and language technology
  • Build practical experience in audio annotation and AI data quality
  • Work remotely with flexible, asynchronous task-based work

The Role

OpenTrain is looking for a Brazilian Portuguese Audio Transcript Editor to review, correct, and refine machine-generated audio transcripts. You will compare recordings with transcripts at the word level, check punctuation and timestamps, and apply detailed style guidelines consistently.

This role is available to candidates in the United Kingdom and requires native Brazilian Portuguese fluency with excellent written command of the language.

  • Employment type: Contractor and part-time
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
  • Work arrangement: Fully remote
  • Language: Brazilian Portuguese
  • Location: United Kingdom

What You'll Do

You will work independently through web-based tools and audio playback interfaces, maintaining accuracy and consistency across large volumes of transcript data.

  • Listen to Brazilian Portuguese recordings and compare them with machine-generated transcripts
  • Correct misspelled, missing, or incorrect words
  • Fix punctuation and other transcript formatting issues
  • Verify word-level accuracy and precise timestamp alignment
  • Follow detailed style and formatting guidelines
  • Flag unclear audio, overlapping speakers, and other quality issues
  • Maintain a patient, methodical approach across high-volume work
  • Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule

Required Skills

This is an entry-level role, but success depends on excellent Brazilian Portuguese language ability, careful listening, and consistent attention to detail. You should be comfortable following precise instructions and working reliably without direct supervision.

  • Native Brazilian Portuguese speaker with excellent written Portuguese
  • Strong listening skills, including when audio quality varies
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Patient and methodical approach to word-level review
  • Ability to follow detailed style guides and formatting rules
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
  • Comfort using web-based tools and audio playback interfaces

Helpful Background

Prior experience is helpful but not required. Backgrounds involving transcription, language, subtitles, audio quality assurance, or AI data workflows may help you get up to speed quickly.

  • Transcription, court reporting, or stenography experience
  • Subtitling, closed captioning, or subtitle editing
  • Linguistics or another language-related field
  • Annotation platforms, data-labeling tools, or AI training workflows
  • Audio editing or media quality assurance
  • Transcription software or timing and alignment tools

Why Work With OpenTrain

Ongoing work and contract extension may be available as new projects launch.

  • Help improve how AI understands spoken Brazilian Portuguese
  • Gain experience in a fast-growing AI training field
  • Choose a flexible working schedule around your availability
