The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting an Audio Transcription and Alignment Specialist to improve speech data used in AI training. You will correct word-level transcripts, align word and segment boundaries to spoken audio with millisecond precision, and apply detailed style conventions consistently.

This is an entry-level, part-time contractor role for candidates in Australia. The time requirement is 20 or more hours per week, and listed pay ranges from $10 to $35 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will edit text and timing together in a specialized web-based audio labeling tool. The work requires close listening, accurate typing, and consistent decisions when recordings contain challenging speech or background conditions.

• Review transcripts for accuracy, spelling, grammar, formatting, and rule compliance.
• Align word and segment boundaries precisely with the corresponding spoken audio.
• Apply transcription style guides consistently across tasks.
• Resolve accents, dialects, mumbled words, filler words, false starts, and overlapping speech.
• Assess unclear recordings, background noise, and transcript errors using careful judgment.
• Maintain high quality while meeting task-based turnaround expectations.
• Work independently and asynchronously.

Required Skills

Native or near-native English fluency and excellent listening comprehension are required. You should be able to distinguish accents, dialects, mumbled words, filler words, and overlapping speakers while applying rule-based guidelines consistently.
