About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people who want to build careers in AI training and data labeling. We help contributors discover projects, build a single professional training portfolio, and grow a durable freelance career teaching AI how to reason and communicate.

  • Work 100% remotely from anywhere with a computer or phone and internet.
  • Flexible, part-time projects that let you choose hours and scale your workload.
  • A way to gain practical, future-proof experience shaping how AI systems behave.

About AI training and this role

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback) is the human work that helps models learn: people create examples, write answers, rate outputs, and correct mistakes so LLMs reason and respond more reliably. This role focuses on analytical question-and-answer content to improve model reasoning.

You will produce and evaluate analytical Q&A, find edge cases, and ensure data meets project quality standards. The work combines careful judgment, clear writing, and creative problem-solving in both French and English.

  • Labeling types used: classification, text generation, and evaluation/rating.
  • This is a short-term contract with potential extension based on performance.

The role

As an AI Training Data Analyst (French) you will create scenarios and answers that train LLMs to reason, review and classify contributions from other annotators, and perform quality assurance to keep data clean and consistent. You will work independently against productivity and quality targets while collaborating with reviewers and project leads.

  • Create analytical Q&A examples in French and English that challenge model reasoning.
  • Label and classify responses according to detailed project guidelines.
  • Rate model outputs and provide constructive, actionable feedback.

What you'll do day-to-day

Your typical tasks include drafting question/answer pairs, checking others' annotations for accuracy, spotting ambiguous or problematic items, and escalating annotation issues with clear notes. Expect to use spreadsheets and web-based annotation tools to record, validate, and report results.

  • Write high-quality, annotated Q&A in French and English that reflect varied reasoning paths.
  • Perform classification, evaluation/rating, and text-generation tasks per guidelines.
  • Run quality checks, identify edge cases, and suggest improvements to instructions.

Requirements

You must be bilingual in English and French and able to work remotely with a reliable desktop or laptop and internet. The project requires strong analytical research skills, clear written communication, and the ability to give constructive feedback in both languages.

  • Bilingual fluency in English and French (mandatory).
  • Strong analytical, research, and logical-reasoning skills.
  • Excellent written communication and the ability to provide detailed annotations and feedback.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and meet productivity/quality targets.
  • Reliable desktop/laptop and internet connection.

Time commitment, pay, and logistics

This is a contract, part-time role. The posted time requirement is 20+ hours per week; the project also indicates a possible need for availability to commit up to 40 hours per week overlapping US hours if required. Work is 100% remote and scheduled to meet overlap with US time zones when needed.

  • Time: 20+ hours/week (note: ability to commit up to 40 hours/week overlapping US hours may be requested).
  • Employment type: Contractor, part-time, short-term contract with potential extension.
  • Data type: Text; tasks include classification, text generation, and evaluation/rating.

Helpful background & who should apply

Ideal contributors have a background in writing, analysis, or research and enjoy creative problem solving. Candidates with degrees or professional experience in journalism, communications, literature, analysis, or related fields will find this work a strong fit, but the role is entry-level friendly if you can demonstrate the listed skills.

  • Helpful: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Literature, Journalism, Communications, Arts, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Helpful: professional writing experience (analyst, copywriter, journalist, editor, translator).
  • Helpful: familiarity with Excel/Google Suite, data interpretation, and basic arithmetic.
