The Role
OpenTrain is recruiting a Finance and Accounting Task Author to create expert accounting reconciliation tasks for advanced AI training and evaluation. You will transform realistic enterprise finance scenarios into objectively scorable exercises involving payment-to-invoice matching, billing compared with recognized revenue, and margin report analysis.
This is a fully remote, flexible hourly contract with task-based work. Finance professionals located in Germany are invited to contribute 20 or more hours per week.

What You'll Do
You will design accounting tasks that reflect the judgment, documentation, and numerical precision required in real finance workflows. Each task must have clear expected outcomes and reliable scoring criteria.
You may also review AI-generated task materials and refine them so that the prompts, data, calculations, and rubrics accurately measure accounting performance.
Author realistic prompts based on multi-step accounting reconciliation problems
Build task environments using financial data, documents, and system states
Solve each task to verify calculations and scoring criteria
Adjust data complexity, source-document ambiguity, and reasoning requirements to calibrate difficulty
Review and correct AI-drafted prompts or rubrics when provided
Requirements
Hands-on experience as an accountant, finance analyst, or closely related finance professional is required. The role calls for practical reconciliation judgment and the ability to turn accounting knowledge into precise, verifiable AI-training exercises.
Strong written English is required for authoring clear task prompts and rubrics. The work also requires comfort reviewing financial documents, spreadsheets, and accounting system outputs.
Hands-on accounting or finance analysis experience with multi-step reconciliation judgment
Knowledge of revenue recognition, matching rules, and standard accounting workflows
Knowledge of IFRS or HGB accounting workflows
Strong numerical reasoning
Ability to define exact, verifiable outcomes and variance explanations
Strong written English
Familiarity with financial documents, spreadsheets, or ERP outputs
Helpful Background
Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or enterprise B2B finance may be useful. Familiarity with SAP, DATEV, NetSuite, or similar ERP and accounting platforms can also support the work.
Professional qualifications such as Steuerberater, Wirtschaftspruefer, or an equivalent credential, as well as experience in audit, financial controls, or revenue assurance, may be relevant.
