Why AI Training Work Matters
AI systems learn from examples people create and review. In voice and speech work, human recordings, ratings, and written feedback teach models how to sound natural, follow direction, and perform with the emotional and technical nuance required for real-world applications.
This is flexible, accessible work that you can do remotely: many contributors start with part-time projects and build specialized skills that increase earning potential over time.
The Role
OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Voice Actor for AI Training to produce high-quality audio recordings and provide clear, structured feedback used to teach voice-capable models. This is a remote contractor role suited to people with voice performance experience who can work independently and follow detailed project instructions.
Prior AI training experience is not required. The most important qualifications are practical expertise in voice performance, reliable recording quality, and the ability to explain judgments in writing so model behavior can improve.
What You'll Do
Record scripted and directed audio samples that match project guidelines and vocal directions.
Review source materials and model outputs, compare them against rubrics, and mark compliance or errors.
Provide precise, written feedback that explains judgments and suggests corrective changes.
Maintain consistency and quality across repeated tasks and multiple recording sessions.
Follow detailed project instructions and apply annotation/feedback rubrics reliably.
Requirements
You must be fluent in English and able to write clear, structured feedback. This role requires real-world voice performance experience and a portfolio showing range.
You must have a professional home voice recording setup and be comfortable following detailed vocal direction and delivering consistent takes.
Proven emotional range in voice performance (demo reel or portfolio required).
Ability to follow detailed vocal direction and apply rubrics consistently.
Professional home recording setup that meets project quality standards.
Strong written communication, attention to detail, and time management.
Comfort working independently as a remote contractor.
Compensation & Schedule
This is a remote contractor, part-time opportunity with flexible workloads and deadlines. Typical commitment is 20+ hours per week but exact hours depend on project needs and your availability.
Pay ranges from $20 to $50 per hour. Estimated project earnings for the schedules shown on OpenTrain are $3,200–$8,000, depending on how much you work and the specific project duration.
Who Should Apply
Apply if you have professional or academic voice performance experience, a strong demo portfolio, and a reliable home recording setup. This role fits actors, voiceover artists, vocal coaches, or performers who can deliver emotional range and follow direction.
Entry-level contributors with demonstrable voice work are welcome; you do not need previous AI-training or annotation experience to be considered.
How It Works
Create or update your OpenTrain profile, upload your voice portfolio, and apply through the OpenTrain platform. If selected, you'll receive project guidelines, rubrics, and technical requirements for audio submissions and feedback.
Work is contractor-based: you submit recordings and written reviews, follow quality checks, and get paid according to the hourly rate set for the project. Clear, consistent feedback and on-time delivery help you build a stronger OpenTrain profile for future work.
