The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a contractor attorney for legal analysis and document review supporting AI training. You will work across US law topics and apply strong legal judgment to research, drafting, editing, structured feedback, and quality assurance on sophisticated legal materials.

The role requires precision, clarity, and practical understanding of legal standards. Prior AI experience is not required; the work is designed for professionals who can explain and assess legal reasoning with accuracy.

• Work arrangement: Remote, worldwide
• Engagement: Contractor and part-time
• Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
• Pay: $140-$400 per hour

What You'll Do

• Conduct comprehensive legal analysis across a variety of US law topics.
• Research legal issues to support project objectives and keep information current and accurate.
• Draft, review, and edit memoranda, opinions, contracts, and other legal documents.
• Evaluate legal text for clarity, accuracy, and alignment with legal best practices.
• Provide structured feedback on complex legal scenarios and project deliverables.
• Identify errors, inconsistencies, and ambiguities through content quality assurance.
• Collaborate remotely with multidisciplinary contributors while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.

Requirements

This role is intended for an attorney with substantial legal training and practical experience. Candidates should be able to analyze sophisticated legal materials, communicate clearly, and evaluate legal reasoning against precise standards.

• Active license to practice law
• Strong academic credentials
• Current or prior experience at one or more Vault Law 100 firms
• Legal analysis and research experience across US law topics
• Experience drafting and reviewing memoranda, opinions, contracts, and related documents
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience reviewing legal content with precision and attention to accuracy
• Ability to collaborate remotely on multidisciplinary work

Helpful Background

Experience with quality assurance and rubric-based evaluation of legal documents is helpful. Familiarity with varied practice areas and sophisticated legal matters can support the nuanced judgment required for this work. Prior AI experience is not required.
