The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a US English Voice Recording Specialist to create high-quality voice samples for next-generation AI systems. You will combine natural voice performance with careful audio quality control, organized data collection, and clear communication.

This is a remote, part-time contractor opportunity for candidates in the United States. The role requires 20 or more hours per week and pays $10-$30 per hour.

What You’ll Do

You will record your own voice across different scripts and contexts, then review each recording to ensure it is clear, natural, and technically suitable. The work also includes basic cleanup, file organization, documentation, and communication about project requirements and delivery timelines.

• Record clear, natural speech with accurate pronunciation, pitch, and tone
• Adjust delivery style for different scripts and project contexts
• Review recordings for clarity and technical quality
• Complete post-recording cleanup when needed
• Provide practical feedback to improve script delivery and audio quality
• Label and document recordings accurately
• Keep audio files organized and easy to review
• Communicate clearly about requirements, progress, and deadlines

Requirements

This opportunity is suited to someone with professional or substantial experience in voice recording, audio engineering, voice-over, or a related audio production field. You should be comfortable working independently, managing multiple recordings, and identifying issues that affect audio quality.

• Experience with voice recording, audio engineering, voice-over, or related audio production
• Ability to produce natural, engaging speech with accurate pitch, tone, and clarity
• Familiarity with recording equipment and audio editing software
• Understanding of basic audio quality standards
• A keen ear for pitch, tone, clarity, and natural speech
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organization and independent work habits
• Ability to identify and correct audio quality issues
• Ability to deliver engaging audio performances in English

Helpful Background

Experience as a voice-over artist, audio engineer, or linguist can be useful. Experience with audio production for global or multicultural projects, proficiency in more than one language, and an interest in linguistic diversity may help you adapt recordings to varied contexts.

The structured experience level is entry level within AI training, and previous AI training work is not required. Audio professionals can bring their existing skills into AI data collection and voice recording.
