AI Training Work In Medical Imaging
AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human side of building medical AI. Radiologists annotate images and provide diagnostic labels that teach models to detect findings, segment anatomy, and support clinical workflows.
This role puts you on the cutting edge: your annotations will influence how diagnostic models interpret CT and MRI data used by researchers and product teams.
- Work impacts model performance and patient-safety applications.
- Opportunities for flexible, remote contracting work with expert-level pay.
The Role
We are looking for US-based, board-certified radiologists (MD) to perform annotation on CT and MRI studies in DICOM format. This is a contractor role focused on high-quality medical-image labeling for algorithm development and validation.
- Data type: MEDICAL_DICOM (CT and MRI studies).
- Primary label types: polygon annotation, pixel-level segmentation, and diagnostic labels.
- (project will provide access and instructions).
What You'll Do
You will create accurate, clinically informed annotations and diagnostic labels following project guidelines and QA checks. Work is evaluated for consistency and clinical accuracy.
- Draw polygons and segmentation masks on CT and MRI images.
- Assign diagnostic labels and brief clinical impressions per case.
- Follow project-specific annotation guides and quality control procedures.
- Participate in short calibration sessions or feedback rounds when requested.
Requirements
Candidates must meet every listed requirement below; we cannot accept substitutions.
- Board-certified radiologist (MD) — US certification required.
- US-based; only applicants located and authorized to work in the United States may apply.
- Comfortable reviewing CT and MRI DICOM studies and applying diagnostic labels.
- Role designated as contractor work; entry-level experience in AI annotation is acceptable.
Compensation & Logistics
This is paid contractor work. The project pays $150 per hour. Exact hours and scheduling vary by project and will be shared during onboarding.
- Pay: USD 150/hour (contractor).
- Time commitment: varies by project; schedule set with the project manager.
- Platform and labeling tool access will be provided; expect DICOM viewer and annotation interface labeled as “OTHER.”
How To Apply
If you meet the requirements, create a free OpenTrain account and submit your profile and credentials. Include your MD degree, board certification details, and a brief note about your radiology experience with CT/MRI.
Qualified applicants will receive project details, onboarding instructions, and access to the annotation platform.
- Prepare: MD diploma and board-certification proof for verification.
- Apply: Submit through your OpenTrain profile; follow prompts to attach credentials.
- Onboarding: Complete brief training and calibration before starting paid annotation.
