AI training (data labeling and human feedback) is the human side of building medical AI. Radiology SMEs directly influence model safety, diagnostic reasoning, and imaging appropriateness by reviewing outputs, writing expert explanations, and producing gold-standard content.

This work is remote, flexible, and impactful: contributors help shape how medical AI recommends imaging, interprets findings, and prioritizes patient-safety considerations.

The Role

As a Radiology AI SME you will evaluate AI-generated radiology and medical-imaging responses, create expert content and gold-standard answers, and judge clinical reasoning for accuracy and safety. Your focus will include imaging appropriateness, modality and protocol selection, differential diagnosis, incidental findings logic, and patient-safety considerations.

• Position type: Part-time contractor, 20+ hours/week.
• Work type: Remote, text-based evaluation and content creation (RLHF, evaluation rating, text generation).

What You'll Do

This role is hands-on and detail-oriented. Tasks include reviewing AI responses for correctness and clarity; writing high-quality, step-by-step explanations and model solutions; and comparing multiple model outputs to rank correctness, reasoning, and safety.

• Review AI-generated radiology responses for accuracy, clarity, and prompt adherence.
• Create detailed prompts and gold-standard answers covering imaging appropriateness, protocols, and radiology reporting.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve clinical correctness, safety, and contextual fit.
• Test outputs for unsafe imaging recommendations, inaccuracies, and bias across populations.
• Provide precise written feedback explaining correct reasoning and next-step decisions.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the medical and professional criteria below. These requirements ensure reviewers have the clinical experience and judgment necessary to assess imaging decisions and patient-safety tradeoffs.

• MD or DO with completed Radiology residency and board eligibility or certification.
• Minimum 5 years of professional radiology experience in academic, community, teleradiology, or subspecialty practice.
• Strong clinical reasoning for translating presentations into imaging strategy and prioritizing differentials.
• Deep knowledge of imaging modalities, tradeoffs, limitations, artifacts, and protocol impacts.
• Excellent safety judgment for contrast reactions, nephrotoxicity, pregnancy, anticoagulation, and radiation dose principles.
• C1 English proficiency and strong attention to detail for fact-checking medical explanations.
• Prior experience with AI data training, report QA, peer review, utilization management, or medical editorial work is strongly preferred.

Logistics, Pay, and Eligibility

This is a contract, part-time role requiring 20+ hours per week. Pay is hourly (USD). OpenTrain specifies the pay range and typical rate below; all contracting and payment are handled by OpenTrain AI.
