About AI Training and Medical Image Annotation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. In medical image projects, skilled contributors prepare and review structured data so AI systems can learn from clear, accurate examples. This work combines technical expertise, attention to detail, and established annotation procedures.

  • Work with medical DICOM and CT scan data
  • Create precise segmentation labels for AI development
  • Contribute to cutting-edge medical imaging workflows

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an intermediate Biomedical Image Segmentation Engineer for on-demand segmentation of lower-limb DICOM and CT scans. Assignments are handled one by one rather than in batches, and usually involve one leg.

You will perform a rough segmentation across the global CT scan, then refine the segmentation for a specific area measuring approximately 50 to 150 mm in the Z direction, or roughly 50 to 150 slices. Each received assignment must be completed within 24 hours.

  • Role type: Contractor
  • Experience level: Intermediate
  • Work pattern: On demand, one assignment at a time
  • Pay: $5-$15 USD per hour, with $10 USD per hour listed
  • Eligible countries: Colombia, Mexico, India, Costa Rica, and Argentina

What You'll Do

You will segment bony structures according to the project's specifications and produce high-quality outputs for medical imaging AI workflows. The work includes both broad scan-level segmentation and detailed segmentation of the designated anatomical region.

  • Segment lower-limb bony structures in DICOM and CT scans
  • Usually work on one leg per assignment
  • Perform rough segmentation on the global CT scan
  • Refine a specified 50 to 150 mm area with accuracy
  • Generate anatomical 3D models
  • Conduct quality checks according to established procedures
  • Complete each assignment within 24 hours of receipt

Requirements

Applicants should have experience with CT scan segmentation of bony structures. Experience applying this work to the lower leg is a plus.

  • Intermediate-level experience
  • Experience segmenting bony structures in CT scans
  • Ability to follow project specifications
  • Ability to complete individual assignments within 24 hours
  • Lower-leg segmentation experience is preferred but not required

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is suited to professionals who are comfortable working with CT imaging data and precise anatomical segmentation. It may be a strong fit for contributors seeking flexible, project-based work in medical AI training.

  • Biomedical image segmentation professionals
  • Medical imaging specialists with bone segmentation experience
  • Contributors familiar with lower-limb CT anatomy
  • Intermediate practitioners seeking on-demand contractor work

How AI Training Work Fits Your Career

AI training and data labeling are expanding areas of technical work. People contribute by annotating images, reviewing model outputs, and preparing examples that help artificial intelligence become more accurate and useful. Projects are often flexible and remote, allowing contributors to build experience while working around other commitments.

  • Apply through OpenTrain AI
  • Take on assignments as they become available
  • Use specialized medical imaging knowledge in AI development
  • Help shape the next generation of intelligent systems
