The role

We are recruiting an Urdu Quality Assurance Lead to oversee quality, consistency, and trainer performance across Urdu AI training projects. This is a remote contractor position, part-time (20+ hours per week), requiring expert-level Urdu language skills and strong English for communication.

You will evaluate AI-generated Urdu content and trainer/QA submissions, provide precise written feedback, maintain documentation and style guides, support onboarding, and help scale QA processes for Urdu-language work.

What you'll do day-to-day

This role focuses on reviewing, coaching, and improving Urdu output and team performance. Expect to balance hands-on evaluation with documentation and communication tasks.

• Review Urdu AI outputs and trainer/QA submissions for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, register, and rubric adherence.
• Evaluate work against project guidelines, style guides, and rubrics and record judgments clearly.
• Provide concise, actionable written feedback to trainers and QAs; escalate recurring or critical quality issues.
• Create and maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, honeypots, examples, and onboarding materials.
• Support onboarding and training calls for new trainers and QAs and answer questions about Urdu wording and context.
• Handle questions about cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, Pakistan vs. India usage, Nastaliq script conventions, and RTL formatting.
• Identify recurring quality problems and propose workflow improvements to scale Urdu QA processes.

Requirements

All requirements below come from the project scope and are essential to perform this role successfully.

• Native or near-native Urdu proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
• Strong English skills for reading guidelines, writing feedback, and communicating with team members.
• Background in Urdu writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
• Deep understanding of Urdu grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, register, cultural context, Nastaliq script conventions, and right-to-left formatting.
• Ability to judge whether Urdu content is natural, accurate, culturally appropriate, and aligned with detailed rubrics.
• Experience supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs is strongly preferred.
• Comfort using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management tools.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable maintaining quality documentation.

Helpful background

The following qualifications are not required but will make you a stronger candidate and help you move faster in the role.

• Degree in Urdu, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
• Previous experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt/response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM QA.

Compensation, schedule, and logistics

This is a remote contractor role for part-time engagement of 20+ hours per week. Pay is hourly at USD 30. You must be able to work and communicate in both Urdu and English.

Candidates should be located in one of the accepted countries: India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, or the United Arab Emirates. Work is performed using common collaboration tools and project trackers.
