The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a UK-based Data Engineering AI Training Specialist for a short-term contract project. You will create professional documents and technical deliverables grounded in real-world data engineering practice, while applying sound judgment to technical outputs and domain-specific decisions.

The project requires 40 hours per week from 14 September through 10 October 2026, aligned with UK business hours. The pay rate is $140 to $200 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will produce the types of data engineering documents and deliverables you create in your regular professional work. Where an assignment calls for hands-on delivery, you will build and own production data pipelines.

You will also document, organize, and structure engineering work for use in AI training tasks and evaluation rubrics. Clear communication and careful technical reasoning will be important throughout the project.

Requirements

This role is designed for professionals with hands-on production experience in data engineering or a closely related discipline. The structured experience level is listed as entry level, but the project requires practical ownership of real-world data engineering delivery and strong implementation skills.

• Hands-on experience as a data engineer, analytics engineer, data platform engineer, data architect, or in a closely related production role
• Strong SQL and Python capabilities
• Practical experience with ETL or ELT, orchestration, streaming, and data warehousing
• Production ownership of data pipelines and real-world data engineering delivery
• Ability to create clear professional documentation and structure complex technical work
• Familiarity with tools or platforms such as Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Current residence in the United Kingdom and the right to work there
