About this role OpenTrain is recruiting a UK-based data engineering specialist for a short, intensive project supporting a globally leading AI lab. You will create professional documents and technical deliverables based on real-world data engineering practice. Your work will help build tasks and rubrics used to train and evaluate frontier AI models.
What you will do You will produce and structure materials related to production data pipelines, data platforms, analytics engineering, and technical delivery. Some assignments will involve documenting practical data engineering work, while others will focus on hands-on delivery and explaining how data systems operate.
Required skills You should have hands-on experience building and owning production data pipelines, with strong SQL and Python skills. Relevant experience includes ETL or ELT, orchestration, streaming, and data warehousing. Familiarity with Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks, and experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, are valuable.
Schedule, location, and pay This is a remote contract for professionals based in the United Kingdom who have the right to work there. The commitment is 40 hours per week from 14 September through 10 October 2026, with collaboration aligned to UK business hours. The pay rate is $140 to $200 per hour.
