About AI Training Work
AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work that teaches models how to behave. For audio and music, that means listening, rating, and annotating examples so generative models learn musicality, genre, vocal quality, and structure.
This work is typically 100% remote and flexible, making it a good fit for people who want part-time hours and skilled, creative tasks that directly influence model output.
The Role
OpenTrain is recruiting a Thai Music AI Model Evaluator to assess AI-generated lyrics, voice synthesis, and full music productions. This intermediate-level contractor role requires 20+ hours per week and strong musical and audio-engineering judgment.
You will perform evaluation-rating and classification tasks on audio data, using structured taxonomies to annotate genre, song structure, vocal and instrumental characteristics, and production quality.
What You'll Do
Your core responsibilities combine judgment, annotation, and comparative evaluation of AI music outputs. Work is delivered through structured labeling tasks and head-to-head sample comparisons.
Evaluate AI-generated lyrics, vocals, and full music samples for musicality, creativity, and prompt adherence.
Score audio outputs and training data using rating scales (evaluation_rating) and classification tags.
Compare two AI-generated samples head-to-head to indicate preference and strengths/weaknesses.
Annotate songs using a structured taxonomy: genre/sub-genre, song structure, vocal/instrumental traits, and production/mix quality.
Use audio-engineering terminology when describing issues (e.g., timbre, compression, stereo imaging, balance).
Requirements
You must have hands-on music and audio experience plus language fluency to qualify for this role. All required skills below are essential and will be checked during selection.
Background as a music producer, audio engineer, or sound mixer.
Experience evaluating or annotating music or audio quality for databases, demos, or production work.
Strong understanding of musical performance, music theory, and lyrics.
Ability to write lyrical music in Thai.
Native or near-native Thai and English proficiency, and comfort following task instructions in English.
Willingness and ability to work 20+ hours per week on a part-time contract basis.
Helpful Background
The following qualifications are advantageous but not strictly required: formal music study or demonstrable experience writing lyrical music. These help when annotating genre, structure, and nuanced performance attributes.
College study in music or comparable formal training.
Previous experience in lyrical songwriting or music composition.
How It Works & Compensation
This is a contract, part-time role with flexible scheduling. Tasks will be assigned as labeling jobs that you complete within the platform workflow, and you'll use provided taxonomies and instructions to submit ratings and annotations.
Pay is hourly on a pay-per-hour basis. The posted range is $13.01–$23.43 USD per hour; the hourly rate you receive will depend on task type and assignment details. The role accepts contributors worldwide who meet the language and skill requirements.
