About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. In this role, your technical sales judgment will help train and assess models on complex customer and solution scenarios.

  • Create technically accurate examples for model training
  • Evaluate generated responses against consistent quality standards
  • Help shape how AI handles technical discovery, solution fit, and communication

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Technical Sales AI Training Expert to create high-quality training and evaluation data for frontier AI models. You will apply practical sales engineering judgment to technical discovery, customer requirements mapping, solution-fit assessment, product positioning, RFP responses, technical objection handling, and complex technical communication.

The work requires careful evaluation of whether scenarios, technical specifications, and proposed solutions are realistic, accurate, and solvable from supporting documentation. You will produce expert-level technical and scientific sales tasks along with gold-standard answers.

  • Contractor position with part-time employment classification
  • U.S.-based opportunity
  • Expected availability of 20 or more hours per week
  • English-language work

What You'll Do

You will design realistic exercises and evaluation materials that test both technical reasoning and professional sales communication. You will also review work for accuracy and improve task quality using calibration feedback and established benchmarks.

  • Write buyer-seller scenarios, discovery briefs, technical proposals, and RFP response exercises
  • Create solution-fit evaluations, product comparison matrices, demo plans, and technical objection scenarios
  • Develop gold-standard answers for technical and scientific sales tasks
  • Apply grading frameworks and rubric standards consistently
  • Review technical inputs for accuracy, practicality, and scientific or technical realism
  • Incorporate detailed calibration feedback and refine task designs
  • Maintain quality benchmarks across training and evaluation materials

Requirements

Candidates should have approximately 3-8 years of hands-on experience in technical sales, sales engineering, scientific sales, or solutions architecture. A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required, along with a relevant STEM educational or professional background such as engineering, biotechnology, chemistry, software, or clinical sciences.

You should be comfortable interpreting complex technical specifications, assessing solution feasibility, and turning practical sales knowledge into realistic prompts, scenarios, structured rubrics, and model answers. Independent work and the ability to incorporate detailed review feedback are also important.

  • Technical sales or sales engineering experience, including technical discovery and customer requirements mapping
  • Experience evaluating customer requirements and mapping solution architecture
  • Strong solution-fit and feasibility judgment
  • Strong technical and scientific accuracy
  • Ability to create realistic scenarios, structured rubrics, and gold-standard solutions
  • Excellent written communication for technical prompts and buyer-seller scenarios
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Relevant STEM background in engineering, biotechnology, chemistry, software, clinical sciences, or a related area
  • Ability to work independently and respond constructively to detailed feedback

Helpful Background

Previous experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, quality assurance, or a related analytical role is helpful but not required. The core requirement is the ability to apply sound technical sales judgment and communicate complex solutions accurately.

  • AI evaluation experience
  • Data annotation or content review
  • Quality assurance
  • Analytical review of complex technical material
