OpenTrain is hiring a Technical Content Writer to produce polished technical documentation, analyze public datasets for business insights, and explain reasoning using notebooks or other structured artifacts. This is a part-time contractor role requiring 20+ hours per week and an intermediate-level candidate with at least 3 years of relevant experience.

What you'll do
Produce clear, accurate, well-organized technical documentation and written deliverables.
Analyze public datasets to answer analytical questions and derive actionable business insights.
Explain reasoning, methods, and assumptions in notebooks or other structured formats with strong traceability.
Work with JSON-based data, ensuring outputs are accurate, consistent, and easy to trace.
Use Python scripting for data exploration, validation, and reproducible analysis.
Collaborate with researchers and stakeholders to refine insights and finalize deliverables.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the core technical and communication expectations below.
3+ years experience as a technical content writer, analyst, or software developer.
Strong technical writing skills producing clear, structured, and accurate content.
Comfort working with JSON and interpreting dataset structures.
Working knowledge of Python for data exploration, validation, and scripting.
Familiarity with notebooks or scripting workflows for reproducible analysis.
Good understanding of code quality, formatting, and documentation best practices.
Strong analytical judgment and business sense.
Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
