The role
OpenTrain is hiring a Tax AI Training Specialist to design realistic tax scenarios from real tax work, review AI-generated tax answers for technical accuracy and defensible positions, and write clear feedback that improves model behavior. You will cover corporate, individual, partnership, SALT, and international tax topics and collaborate asynchronously with a research team.

What you'll do
Day-to-day work centers on translating professional tax work into structured training examples, evaluating AI outputs for technical correctness, and producing feedback that is actionable for model improvement.
Turn return preparation, ASC 740 tax provision, notices/IDRs, controversy support, planning, and estimated payments into high-quality training examples
Review and compare AI-generated tax answers for technical accuracy and defensible positions
Write clear, evidence-based feedback and annotations to guide model improvements
Cover a range of sub-specialties including corporate, individual, partnership, SALT, and international/cross-border tax
Collaborate asynchronously with a research team to refine examples and evaluation criteria
Requirements
You must meet the core professional and technical criteria below to ensure training examples and reviews reflect defensible tax positions.
Active CPA or EA credential (required)
Experience in a clear tax sub-specialty such as corporate, individual, partnership, SALT, or international tax
Public accounting firm or in-house tax experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Ability to evaluate tax outputs for technical accuracy and defensible positions
Strong written communication skills and close attention to detail
Experience level: Entry level (see role description and credential requirements)

Prior experience translating professional tax work into structured examples for training or documentation
Familiarity with technical tax review processes and documenting defensible positions
Comfort working with examples spanning ASC 740, controversy responses, and cross-border tax issues
