The role

OpenTrain is hiring a Tamil Language Specialist for part-time contract work focused on translation, transcription, localization, and editorial review. This is a remote contractor position with an expected commitment of less than 20 hours per week.

What you'll do

You will translate and adapt Tamil content for business and training use, review and edit Tamil writing for clarity and cultural accuracy, and help create terminology resources and style guidance the team can reuse.

• Translate, transcribe, and adapt Tamil text and audio into clear, context-appropriate copy
• Review and edit Tamil content for tone, accuracy, and localization needs
• Support localization of documentation, interfaces, and training materials into Tamil
• Create and maintain glossaries, style guides, and terminology resources
• Share linguistic recommendations during collaborative meetings and cross-functional discussions

Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate strong Tamil language skills and relevant professional experience. You should be able to manage work independently in a remote, contract setting and maintain confidentiality and quality standards.

• Native or near-native fluency in Tamil (spoken and written)
• Experience in translation, editing, or language instruction (professional or equivalent)
• Familiarity with terminology management and CAT tools
• Strong written and verbal communication in Tamil
• Attention to detail, timeliness, and the ability to work independently
