The role

As a Tamil Language AI Trainer you will review AI-generated Tamil outputs, create gold-standard Tamil answers, and evaluate language quality across fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, and cultural appropriateness.

This role involves identifying mistranslations, register issues, ambiguity, factual errors, and safety risks, then writing precise feedback, rewrites, and comparative ratings to help improve model performance.

What you'll do

• Review Tamil AI outputs for correctness, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, and cultural appropriateness.
• Compare multiple responses and rank them by overall quality, fidelity, and safety (evaluation/rating work).
• Write gold-standard Tamil answers and rewrites across domains such as general knowledge, customer support, education, and conversation.
• Fact-check claims when needed and flag hallucinations, bias, and policy-risk language.
• Provide clear written feedback in English explaining what should change and why.

Requirements

• Native or near-native Tamil reading and writing ability (required).
• Strong professional English proficiency for written evaluation and feedback.
• Experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or related language-focused work.
• Deep understanding of Tamil grammar, spelling conventions, punctuation, style, and register.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort handling regional variation and audience adaptation.
• Familiarity with translation QA, editorial QA, rubric-based evaluation, or prior AI data training is strongly preferred.
• Ability to spot hallucinations, bias, and unsafe or misleading content, and to write high-quality Tamil rewrites.

Helpful background

• Degree in Linguistics, Tamil or English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or a related field.
• Experience working across formal and informal Tamil usage in India, Sri Lanka, and diaspora contexts.
• Confidence spotting subtle meaning shifts, awkward literal translations, and culturally mismatched phrasing.

Compensation & logistics

This is a remote contractor, part-time role expecting 20+ hours per week with hourly pay up to $15 USD. Hiring is open in India (IN), Malaysia (MY), Singapore (SG), and Sri Lanka (LK). Total headcount across these countries: 400.

Work centers on text-based labeling and evaluation: label types include RLHF, evaluation/rating, and text generation. You will submit written Tamil outputs and English feedback as part of the evaluation workflow.
