The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Tamil Language AI Trainer to evaluate AI-generated Tamil content and create reference responses. You will assess meaning, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural fit, safety, and prompt adherence while explaining clearly how responses can be improved.

The role involves working across general knowledge, customer support, education, and conversational writing. You may also check claims for factual errors, identify hallucinations or bias, and recognize unsafe or misleading language.

What You'll Do

Your evaluations will help distinguish strong Tamil responses from outputs that are inaccurate, unnatural, unsafe, or poorly adapted to the intended audience. Careful written reasoning and high-quality rewrites are central to the work.

• Review Tamil AI outputs for correctness, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, and cultural appropriateness
• Compare multiple responses and rank them by overall quality, fidelity, and safety
• Write gold-standard Tamil answers and rewrites across multiple subject areas
• Fact-check claims when needed and flag hallucinations, bias, and policy-risk language
• Provide clear written feedback explaining what should change and why
• Identify mistranslation, register problems, ambiguity, logical inconsistency, factual errors, unsafe content, and prompt-adherence issues

Requirements

This role requires native or near-native Tamil reading and writing ability, along with strong professional English for detailed written evaluation and feedback. You should be comfortable judging subtle differences in meaning, register, tone, and cultural fit across Tamil content.

• Strong attention to detail and comfort handling regional variation and audience adaptation
• Ability to spot hallucinations, bias, and unsafe or misleading content
• Experience writing or rewriting high-quality Tamil responses
• Experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content quality assurance, journalism, education, or related language-focused work

Helpful Background

Prior experience with AI data training, translation quality assurance, editorial quality assurance, or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred. Familiarity with formal and informal Tamil usage across India, Sri Lanka, and diaspora contexts will help you adapt responses to different audiences.

A degree in Linguistics, Tamil or English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or a related field may be helpful. The role also suits language professionals who can recognize awkward literal translations, subtle meaning shifts, and culturally mismatched phrasing.
