The Swiss French Audio Transcriptionist Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Swiss French Audio Transcriptionist to create accurate, detailed transcriptions of real-world French-language audio recordings for AI training. This fully remote contractor role is designed for detail-oriented people in Switzerland with a sharp ear for Swiss French speech patterns. No prior AI experience is required.

The role requires at least 20 hours per week. Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule, with compensation listed at $10 to $35 USD per hour.

What You'll Do

You will transcribe challenging recordings while applying detailed conventions consistently. Accuracy, speaker identification, and careful treatment of difficult audio are central to the work.

• Listen to French-language recordings and produce accurate, detailed transcriptions
• Handle overlapping speakers, crosstalk, background noise, accents, and Swiss French filled pauses
• Identify and distinguish multiple speakers throughout each recording
• Follow detailed transcription style and formatting guidelines
• Mark non-verbal sounds, inaudible segments, and spoken disfluencies according to established conventions
• Maintain high accuracy and quality across large volumes of audio
• Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule

Requirements

You should have native or near-native French fluency, strong written French, and excellent spelling and grammar. Success in this role depends on careful listening, consistent application of style rules, and reliable independent work.

• Native or near-native French fluency
• Strong familiarity with Swiss French speech patterns and vocabulary
• Exceptional listening skills and sensitivity to tone and subtle audio details
• Ability to work with background noise, low-quality audio, accents, crosstalk, and overlapping speech
• Comfort following detailed transcription style guides and formatting rules
• Detail-oriented, methodical, self-motivated, and reliable
• Strong French spelling and grammar

Helpful Background

Previous experience is helpful but not required. Relevant backgrounds may include professional transcription, court reporting, stenography, subtitles, closed captioning, video annotation, language documentation, or multilingual editorial work in Switzerland.
