About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a Swiss French Audio Transcriptionist to produce high-quality transcriptions of real-world audio recordings for AI training. This role is ideal for detail-oriented individuals based in Switzerland with a sharp ear for Swiss French nuances. You will work fully remotely on a flexible contract, with no prior AI experience required.

What you will do
- Listen to French-language audio recordings and produce accurate, detailed transcriptions
- Handle challenging audio including overlapping speakers, crosstalk, background noise, accents, and filled pauses typical in Swiss French
- Identify and distinguish between multiple speakers throughout a recording
- Follow detailed style and formatting guidelines with precision and consistency
- Apply transcription conventions for non-verbal sounds, inaudible segments, and spoken disfluencies
- Maintain high accuracy and quality standards across large volumes of audio
- Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule

Required skills
- Native or near-native fluency in French with strong familiarity with Swiss French speech patterns and vocabulary
- Exceptional listening skills with a sharp ear for nuance, tone, and subtle audio details
- Naturally detail-oriented with a consistent, methodical approach to work
- Comfortable following and applying detailed style guides and formatting rules
- Able to work with imperfect audio, including background noise, low quality, or overlapping speech
- Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
- Strong written French skills with excellent spelling and grammar

Helpful background
- Professional experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer
- Background in subtitle creation, closed-captioning, or video annotation
- Experience with linguistics, phonetics, or language documentation
- Prior work with annotation platforms or data labeling tools
- Familiarity with the full range of Swiss French regional accents
- Experience in translation, localization, or editorial work in a multilingual Swiss context
