About AI training and localization work

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work that teaches models how to understand and produce language. Localization tasks ensure AI outputs are accurate, natural, and culturally appropriate in a specific language and market.

As a Swedish Language Expert you’ll help models learn Swedish by translating, editing, and reviewing text, and by explaining judgments clearly so model behavior can improve over time.

The role

We are recruiting a Swedish Language Expert to support Swedish-language translation and localization tasks. This is a part-time contractor role focused on text work: translation, transcreation, editing, proofreading, and quality review against project guidelines.

Prior AI training experience is not required. The most important qualification is strong real-world knowledge of Swedish language localization and consistent application of project rubrics.

What you'll do

• Translate and transcreate Swedish source content into target language when required by the project.
• Edit and proofread model outputs and human-written text for grammar, tone, and cultural accuracy.
• Review source materials and model outputs against project guidelines and apply rubrics consistently.
• Explain and document judgments clearly so feedback can be used to improve model behavior.
• Maintain terminology and brand voice consistency across repeated tasks.
• Work independently and communicate with cross-functional stakeholders when clarification is needed.

Requirements

The role requires native or near-native fluency in Swedish, strong written communication, and careful attention to detail. You must be comfortable following detailed instructions and applying quality rubrics consistently.

• Native or near-native Swedish proficiency (required).
• Relevant professional, academic, or language experience in Swedish localization.
• Experience translating, transcreating, editing, or proofreading content.
• Familiarity with localization workflows and terminology consistency.
• Experience with CAT tools or language quality assurance platforms.
• Ability to work remotely and independently on contractor tasks.

Schedule, pay, and logistics

This is a part-time contractor engagement estimated at about 20 hours per week for 1–3 months, with flexible scheduling to suit your availability. The role is remote and open to contributors located in the United States and Canada.

Compensation is hourly at $10–$30 per hour, depending on experience and project needs.
