The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Statistical Data Analyst AI Trainer to apply advanced statistical expertise to AI training work. You will clean, analyze, visualize, and annotate real-world datasets while documenting findings clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.

This is an entry-level AI training opportunity for experienced statisticians and quantitative professionals who want to apply their existing expertise in a new, rapidly growing field.

What You'll Do

You will contribute to the preparation and evaluation of high-quality datasets used in AI model development. The work combines statistical analysis, data quality review, dataset annotation, and concise technical communication.

  • Clean, preprocess, and structure complex, messy datasets using R, Python, SAS, or Stata.
  • Apply and document descriptive and inferential statistical analyses to identify trends and patterns in real-world data.
  • Create clear data visualizations that communicate key findings and support model development.
  • Use statistical expertise in dataset annotation, labeling, or enrichment for AI training datasets.
  • Write concise, well-organized summaries of methods, analyses, and results for non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with project stakeholders to clarify requirements and improve deliverables.
  • Identify data quality issues and provide actionable recommendations.

Requirements

This role requires strong quantitative training and practical experience working with complex datasets. No previous AI experience is required, but you should be comfortable applying statistical methods and explaining your conclusions clearly.

  • Advanced degree, such as an MS or PhD, in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Biostatistics, or a related quantitative field
  • Expertise cleaning and preparing complex, messy datasets with R, Python, SAS, or Stata
  • Proficiency in descriptive and inferential statistics, including hypothesis testing and regression analysis
  • Strong programming skills in Python or R for statistical analysis, data manipulation, and visualization
  • Experience working with large, unstructured, or noisy datasets across varied domains
  • Ability to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration
