About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect people with flexible, remote projects that help shape how modern AI systems learn and behave.

Why AI Training Work Matters

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Annotators prepare examples and evaluations that modern models learn from, so your work has direct impact on model behavior and quality.

This kind of work is accessible, often part-time and remote, and a fast-growing way to work in tech — ideal for people who want flexible hours and to contribute to cutting-edge systems.

The Role

We’re hiring annotators to label short soccer video clips and write concise captions describing in-game actions. This project combines precise video annotation with short descriptive writing to create structured, high-quality datasets for sports evaluation models.

  • Data type: Video
  • Label tasks: Action recognition, emotion recognition (e.g., celebration), and evaluation/rating
  • Typical work: Identify actions using a predefined taxonomy, mark start/end timestamps, and write 1–2 sentence captions describing the action and outcome

What You’ll Do

Annotate short clips of soccer gameplay following detailed guidelines. Work carefully to ensure consistent labels, accurate timestamps, and clear captions.

  • Watch short soccer clips and select the primary action (example taxonomy includes: pass, shot, tackle, celebration).
  • Mark precise start and end timestamps for labeled actions.
  • Write a clear, concise 1–2 sentence caption in English describing the action and outcome.
  • Apply emotion or celebration labels when appropriate and complete simple evaluation ratings as requested.
  • Follow structured instructions and maintain high quality and consistency across annotations.

Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate solid soccer knowledge, good English writing skills, and strong attention to detail. This is an intermediate-level annotation role suitable for people who already understand soccer rules and common actions.

  • Soccer familiarity: experience playing, coaching, or regularly following the sport; comfortable with positions, rules, and common actions.
  • English writing: able to produce clear, grammatical 1–2 sentence captions.
  • Attention to detail: follow structured guidelines, produce consistent timestamps and labels.
  • Technical: reliable internet and a desktop or laptop capable of playing short video clips smoothly.
  • Availability: less than 20 hours/week; indicate how many hours you can commit over the next three months.
  • Experience level: Intermediate (prior annotation experience helpful but not required).
  • Location: Remote, worldwide applicants welcome.

Who Should Apply

This project is a good fit for soccer fans, former players or coaches, sports journalists, or anyone with strong familiarity with the game who wants flexible, part-time remote work. Good English writing and the ability to follow clear instructions are essential.

How the Application and Screening Work

Applicants will complete a short screening to verify soccer knowledge, English writing, and attention to detail. The screening includes scenario-based caption tasks and short logistics questions about availability and technical setup.

  • Be prepared to describe your hardware/internet, confirm availability and acceptance of the stated pay, and complete a short caption-writing example.
  • Typical screening duration: around 10 minutes.

Compensation & Schedule

This is contract, part-time work paid per hour at the stated rate below. Work is remote and schedule-flexible within project guidelines.

  • Pay: USD 3.50 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR).
  • Hours: Less than 20 hours per week; you choose how many hours you can commit within that limit.
  • Employment types: Contractor, Part-time.

How to Apply

If this role matches your skills and availability, apply with a brief note describing your soccer experience, your expected weekly hours, your hardware/internet setup, and a short writing sample (a 1–2 sentence caption for a soccer action). We’ll invite qualified candidates to complete the short screening.
