The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Spanish Scientific AI Safety Evaluator to assess and improve advanced AI models on specialized scientific topics. You will apply deep scientific knowledge to Spanish-language prompts and responses, with a focus on accuracy, helpfulness, sensitive content, and responsible treatment of dual-use information.

This is a remote, part-time contractor opportunity open worldwide. Applicants in Spain and wider Western Europe are particularly welcome, and applicants elsewhere may also be considered.

• Default commitment: 7 hours per week
• Compensation: $58-$62 USD per hour

What You’ll Do

You will create expert-level Spanish prompts across specialized scientific topics and evaluate the technical quality and safety of AI-generated responses. You will follow structured evaluation guidelines to classify prompts and conversations and identify weaknesses in model behavior.

• Write precise, expert-level prompts in Spanish
• Evaluate responses for scientific accuracy and helpfulness
• Annotate model outputs involving sensitive scientific content
• Classify prompts and conversations using structured guidelines
• Identify unsafe, misleading, or scientifically weak responses
• Assess whether dual-use information is handled responsibly

Required Qualifications

This role requires PhD-level training in chemistry, biology, or a closely related scientific field, either ongoing or completed. You should be able to apply expert scientific judgment while communicating clearly in Spanish and English.

• PhD-level expertise in chemistry, biology, or a closely related scientific field
• Native or near-native Spanish proficiency
• Business-level written English
• Deep familiarity with modern laboratory or computational techniques in a scientific subfield
• Ability to write precise prompts and evaluate technical answers in Spanish
• Sound judgment around scientific safety, dual-use information, and sensitive technical content

Helpful Scientific Background

Experience in a specialized scientific area can support success in this role. Background in scientific safety, security, or technical content review is also valuable.
