About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. Contributors on OpenTrain help teach AI systems by creating and reviewing the real examples models learn from, all while building a profile and career in a fast-growing field.

We connect skilled contributors to remote, flexible projects across the industry—work that is often accessible without prior specialist credentials and that directly shapes how state-of-the-art AI behaves.

About AI Training Work

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human side of building intelligent systems. For generative chatbots, that means writing, editing, and rating conversational content so models respond naturally, safely, and usefully.

This role focuses on creative Spanish writing for LLMs: your samples and edits will teach language models regional tone, phrasing, and culturally appropriate responses used in real interactions.

The Role

We are hiring a remote, contract Spanish Creative Writer to produce and refine prompt responses for LLM chatbot training targeting Mexico and Chile dialects. This is a part-time contractor role with flexible scheduling.

Work type: writing and editing short-to-medium conversational texts, improving AI-generated outputs, and crafting culturally authentic replies that reflect regional nuance.

  • Employment: Contractor, Part-time
  • Minimum commitment: 10 hours/week; preferred: 20+ hours/week
  • Pay: $8.21 USD per hour
  • Locations: Worldwide (remote)

What You'll Do

Create original, engaging Spanish responses to prompts and questions; adapt tone and vocabulary for Mexico and Chile audiences. Edit and improve AI-generated text for clarity, accuracy, and cultural fit.

Follow prompt instructions and annotation guidelines precisely, deliver consistent high-quality samples, and occasionally summarize or rephrase content as required by project specifications.

  • Write creative prompt responses and dialogue examples (TEXT generation, summarization, QA).
  • Edit and proofread model outputs to meet stylistic and grammatical standards.
  • Incorporate regional vocabulary, idioms, and cultural references appropriately.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and follow written guidelines.

Requirements

Must be fluent in written Spanish with strong command of grammar and multiple writing styles. A deep understanding of Mexican and Chilean regional nuances is essential.

Preferred: more than five years of creative or content writing experience in Spanish; prior writing work on online data-labeling platforms (OpenTrain, OpenTrain, Appen, OpenTrain.tech, etc.) is highly preferred.

  • Creative/content writing experience in Spanish (5+ years preferred).
  • Experience performing WRITING tasks on data-labeling platforms is highly valued.
  • Basic understanding of English to follow instructions and communicate with the team.
  • Familiarity with AI chatbot tools (ChatGPT, etc.) is an advantage but not required.
  • Strong editing, proofreading, and analytical skills; attention to detail.
  • Currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor's degree or higher in business, science, or related field is a plus.

Interview & Qualification Test

During the interview you will be asked about your writing background, years/months of experience, platform experience (OpenTrain/OpenTrain/Appen/etc.), and your highest level of education. Bring links or descriptions for any portfolio items you can share.

At the end of the interview there is a short practical test: questions will be provided in English and Spanish, and you must respond in Spanish. Performance on this test strongly influences your qualification score.

  • Portfolio: links preferred; describe works if no links available.
  • You will be asked specifically if you have written responses to prompts on data-labeling platforms.
  • Sample test questions include: character description, drafting a professional email about a quarterly financial report, and writing a persuasive email — all answered in Spanish.

Who Should Apply & How It Works

Apply if you are passionate about language and technology, comfortable crafting culturally specific Spanish content, and available for at least 10 hours/week with a preference for 20+ hours. This role suits writers who enjoy concise conversational writing and iterative editing.

To apply, prepare a short portfolio (links or descriptions), note your platform experience and years of relevant writing, and be ready to complete the Spanish response test during the interview. Successful candidates will receive contractor onboarding instructions and project-specific guidelines.

  • Labeling categories: prompt-response writing (SFT), question answering, text generation, summarization.
  • Work remotely and asynchronously; schedule is flexible within weekly hour expectations.
  • Compensation is hourly at $8.21 USD; exact payment terms follow project contracting.
