As a code reviewer on OpenTrain you directly shape the behavior and safety of models by ensuring training examples are accurate, secure, performant, and accessible.

The role

You will audit annotator reviews of AI-generated TypeScript + React code, verifying that each submission compiles, runs, and meets the prompt and quality rubric. Tasks include installing dependencies, compiling with tsc, executing snippets in sandboxed/containerized environments, and validating security, performance, and accessibility best practices.

This is a remote, contract, part-time role (20+ hours/week) paid per hour at USD $25. You will correct any mis-ratings, provide concise constructive feedback, and help keep review standards aligned across the team.

• Focus on React 18+ features: Hooks, Suspense, Server Components, Context, and state-management patterns.
• Validate TypeScript code quality including generics, utility types, and strict-mode configurations.
• Enforce secure coding (XSS, CSRF, injection, supply-chain CVEs) and performance/accessibility standards.

What you'll do day-to-day

Your daily work is hands-on technical validation and mentoring: run and test code, correct ratings, and produce clear, rubric-aligned feedback that annotators can act on.

• Install project deps and build with tsc to confirm type-safety and compilation.
• Run code safely in containerized or sandboxed environments to verify functionality and UI rendering.
• Execute unit/e2e tests (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress/Playwright) and use coverage tools when available.
• Profile performance (bundle size, code-splitting, lazy loading, Web Vitals) and review for accessibility (WCAG) issues.
• Scan for security issues (XSS, CSRF, dependency CVEs) and recommend mitigations; use Snyk/npm-audit or similar.
• Correct annotator ratings, add clear remediation guidance, and flag systemic quality problems to maintain rubric consistency.
• Mentor contributors through written feedback and help improve team review accuracy.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the technical and QA experience listed below. We will not invent missing qualifications—please apply only if you meet these specifics.

• 7+ years professional TypeScript/React development, QA, or dedicated code-review experience.
• Expert with React 18 features (Hooks, Suspense, Context, Server Components) and state-management patterns (Redux, Zustand, Jotai).
• Advanced TypeScript: generics, utility types, strict-mode configs, decorators, and modern ES language features.
• Testing & debugging: experienced with Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress or Playwright; coverage tools such as Istanbul/nyc.
• Secure coding knowledge: detect/mitigate XSS, CSRF, injection issues and handle dependency CVEs; familiarity with Snyk or npm-audit.
• Performance & accessibility: experience optimizing bundle size, code-splitting, lazy loading, CLS, and WCAG compliance.
• Toolchain & DevOps: comfortable with Vite/webpack, pnpm/Yarn, Docker, CI/CD (GitHub Actions/GitLab), and PR-based review workflows.
• Proof-of-work validation: able to execute code in containerized/sandboxed environments to confirm behavior.
• Structured QA practice: rubric-based scoring, checklist reviews, and experience with ticketing or annotation tools (Jira, Asana).
• Strong written English (B2+ CEFR) to deliver concise, constructive feedback and mentoring.

Nice-to-haves

• Exposure to LLM evaluation, RLHF pipelines, or previous work on AI/ML data-labeling projects.
• Prior experience shaping annotation rubrics or running reviewer calibration sessions.
