The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking a Simplified Chinese Audio Transcript Editor to support AI training focused on spoken Mandarin. You will review audio recordings alongside existing transcripts, correct errors, and provide consistent written feedback through precise transcript editing.
Prior AI training experience is not required. Native or near-native Simplified Chinese ability, careful listening, and strong attention to detail are the most important qualifications.
Fully remote hourly contract
Flexible schedule of 10 to 40 hours per week
Structured time requirement of 20 or more hours per week
Applicants must be based in the New York metro area
Pay range: $10 to $35 per hour

What You’ll Do
You will work independently on repeated transcript editing tasks while applying detailed style and formatting instructions consistently. Accuracy, patience, and dependable decision-making are essential when reviewing challenging spoken audio.
Listen to Simplified Chinese audio recordings and compare them with existing transcripts
Correct wrong characters, missing words, misheard phrases, punctuation issues, and other transcription errors
Verify word-level accuracy, timing, and alignment of transcript segments
Apply formatting and style guidelines consistently
Flag poor audio quality, ambiguous speech, and segments requiring additional review
Maintain accuracy across repeated editing assignments
Requirements
You should be able to understand challenging Mandarin audio, distinguish words and phrases across regional accents, and make precise corrections without changing the intended meaning. You must also be comfortable reviewing exact timestamps and explaining decisions about ambiguous segments.
Native or near-native Simplified Chinese reading, writing, and listening proficiency
Exceptional listening skills for challenging Mandarin audio
Ability to distinguish words, characters, phrases, and regional accents
Ability to correct transcription errors while preserving meaning, punctuation, and formatting
Comfort with word-level corrections and exact timestamp alignment
Ability to follow detailed instructions and apply standards consistently
Methodical, patient, detail-oriented approach to precision work
Reliable independent work habits
Helpful Experience
Previous experience is helpful but not required. Relevant backgrounds include transcription, subtitle editing, closed captioning, dubbing, linguistics, phonetics, annotation platforms, speech-to-text systems, audio editing, or transcript alignment.
