Security Onion Cybersecurity AI Training Specialist

The work

You will complete practical security monitoring and threat investigation workflows in Security Onion. Your work will help train AI systems by turning real technical processes into clear demonstrations, prompts, rubrics, and quality evaluations.

• Navigate network monitoring, alert investigation, log analysis, threat detection, and incident response features.
• Analyze security alerts, network traffic, logs, and related security data.
• Record your screen while demonstrating workflow steps and investigation techniques.
• Create realistic prompts and detailed rubrics for cybersecurity tasks.
• Document the tools, features, and reasoning used during investigations.
• Review task outputs for accuracy and alignment with quality standards.

What it pays and takes

This is a remote, part-time contractor role. It is listed as entry level, but you must have strong practical Security Onion experience and be able to explain your technical process clearly.

• Pay: $90-$175 per hour.
• Time: 20+ hours per week.
• Location: Available in the countries listed for this role.

• Required: Strong hands-on experience with Security Onion for security monitoring, threat detection, or incident investigation.
• Required: Current independent access to Security Onion.
• Required: Clear technical communication, attention to detail, and the ability to explain technical workflows.

• Required: Ability to work independently in a remote contractor engagement.
• Helpful but not required: Experience with annotation, labeling, AI response evaluation, model evaluation, or other human data work.
• Prior AI experience is not required.
