The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Cleared Naval Operations AI Training Expert for an AI training project focused on naval operations and maritime security. You will draw on direct fleet, program, intelligence, or comparable maritime experience to develop expert analysis and produce recommendations, assessments, and briefings.

The role is listed as an entry-level AI training opportunity, but it requires substantial subject-matter experience in naval, maritime, program, or intelligence environments. Prior AI training experience is not required.

What You'll Do

You will analyze operational and program information, translate expert judgment into clear written products, and support recommendations relevant to Navy planning and requirements. The work may involve both classified and unclassified information and requires strict adherence to project and facility protocols.

You will also communicate findings to senior audiences and coordinate with government and industry stakeholders connected to the project.

• Develop expert analysis on naval operations, platforms, and doctrine
• Assess and synthesize classified and unclassified operational or program data
• Create recommendations supporting Navy planning and requirements
• Draft concise written assessments
• Prepare high-level briefings for senior military and civilian leadership
• Coordinate with Navy, DoD, Intelligence Community, and industry stakeholders
• Interpret developments in naval capabilities and maritime security
• Safeguard and handle classified materials according to project and facility protocols

Requirements

Candidates should bring deep experience in naval operations, maritime programs, intelligence, or related defense work, along with the judgment needed to operate in classified or high-stakes environments. Strong executive-level writing and briefing ability is essential.

An active TS/SCI clearance is strongly preferred. A Secret clearance held within the last 24 months may be considered when accompanied by TS/SCI reinstatement eligibility.

• At least 10 years of experience in the U.S. Navy, MARAD/DOT, comparable maritime or defense roles, or demonstrated subject-matter authority
• Expertise in naval operations, platforms, and doctrine based on fleet, program, intelligence, or comparable maritime experience
• Experience synthesizing classified and unclassified data into recommendations and written assessments
• Executive or flag-level defense or government briefing and writing skills
• Strong analytical judgment in classified or high-stakes environments
• Familiarity with Pentagon processes, OPNAV, NAVSEA, or PEO environments
• Ability to follow classified-material handling protocols
• Fluency in English
• Active TS/SCI clearance strongly preferred
• Secret clearance within the last 24 months with TS/SCI reinstatement eligibility may be considered
• Intelligence analysis or Intelligence Community experience is an asset
• Relevant master's degree is desirable
