About AI Training Work

In this role, your public safety communications expertise will be applied to structured incident scenarios and training tasks.

  • Remote work that can fit around other professional or personal commitments
  • An opportunity to contribute to the development of modern AI systems
  • Prior AI training experience is not required

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Public Safety Communications Dispatcher to contribute domain expertise to AI training work involving real-time request coordination and routing. You will apply public safety communication practices to incident scenarios, prioritization decisions, standardized protocols, and escalation workflows.

This is a remote, part-time contractor opportunity open worldwide. Work is conducted in English, and the role requires a commitment of 20 or more hours per week. • Compensation: $30–$55 USD per hour
  • Payment is tied to tasks that meet project specifications

What You'll Do

You will use practical judgment from emergency and public safety environments to create accurate, consistent training input. The work may involve reviewing incident scenarios, making prioritization decisions, documenting reasoning, and participating in feedback that improves training-data quality.

  • Route requests to appropriate resources or agencies through simulated radio, phone, or digital chat channels
  • Manage multiple communication channels while keeping critical information accurate and timely
  • Apply standardized operating procedures, checklists, and escalation protocols to scenario responses
  • Document incident details, actions taken, and the rationale behind decisions for AI training datasets
  • Share practical insights on workflow optimization and multi-channel coordination in public safety settings
  • Participate in feedback reviews that improve the relevance and quality of training data

Requirements

This role is designed for professionals who understand public safety communications and can remain accurate and composed in fast-moving operational contexts. Your experience should come from dispatch or coordination work connected to emergency and public safety services.

  • Professional experience as a public safety dispatcher or coordinator

  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests under pressure while maintaining composure and accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for fast-moving operational contexts
  • Familiarity with radio, telephone, and digital chat communication workflows
  • Working knowledge of standardized procedures, checklists, escalation protocols, and incident documentation
  • Ability to triage and prioritize simultaneous incident or service requests under pressure
  • Accurate documentation of incident details, actions, and decision rationale

Who Should Apply

This opportunity may be a strong fit for dispatchers and public safety coordinators who want to apply their operational knowledge in a new technology setting. Experience explaining operational decisions, documenting actions and rationale, or contributing to workflow reviews can help you succeed.

You do not need previous AI training experience. The work draws on public safety communications expertise and applies it to structured AI data tasks, including incident coordination, routing, and scenario evaluation.

  • Public safety dispatchers with experience in 911, police, ambulance, emergency, or fire services
  • Coordinators comfortable managing simultaneous requests and communication channels
