The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an IT Support Troubleshooting Specialist to support AI training work focused on IT support and troubleshooting. You will work with IT support tickets, troubleshooting documentation, and process insights, using careful review and clear written feedback to help improve AI training data quality.

This opportunity is remote and contractor-based, with asynchronous collaboration and flexible scheduling. The expected time commitment is 20 or more hours per week.

What You'll Do

You will diagnose technical issues, explain your reasoning, and document reliable solutions in a way that is useful to both support teams and AI training workflows. The work combines advanced troubleshooting judgment with strong communication and process awareness.

  • Diagnose hardware, software, operating system, and networking issues
  • Troubleshoot across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments
  • Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, and user interactions in ticket management systems
  • Identify recurring support patterns and contribute process insights
  • Recommend workflow improvements that strengthen support processes and AI training data quality
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly through written and verbal channels

Requirements

This role is intended for someone with substantial hands-on IT support experience and advanced incident-handling judgment. Prior AI training experience is not required; strong real-world knowledge of IT support and troubleshooting is the most important qualification.

  • At least three years of Tier 2 or Tier 3 IT support experience
  • Advanced incident handling and troubleshooting judgment
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VPN, and DNS troubleshooting
  • Experience diagnosing hardware and software across Windows, macOS, and Linux
  • Proficiency with ticket management systems
  • Thorough documentation practices
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in a user-friendly way
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to follow detailed project instructions
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or ITIL certification is advantageous
