About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people start and grow durable freelance careers teaching AI by bringing specialized projects, profile tools, and application workflows together in one place.

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role; you'll work directly with OpenTrain as a contractor on audio quality assurance tasks.

About AI training work

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building modern AI systems. Contributors prepare and validate the examples models learn from — transcriptions, timestamps, speaker labels, and quality judgments — and their work directly shapes how systems understand language and speech.

This is accessible, cutting-edge work that is often fully remote and flexible. Many projects accept contributors with strong language skills and attention to detail rather than formal industry experience.

The role

You will serve as the final quality checkpoint for a multilingual, multi-speaker audio evaluation dataset focused on Russian. Your job is to verify audio fidelity, confirm verbatim transcription accuracy, validate word- and turn-level timestamps and speaker labels, and ensure metadata follows required JSON logic and tagging conventions.

This is a contractor, part-time role requiring 20+ hours per week. The dataset work is audio-based and combines transcription review with evaluation/rating tasks; pay details are not provided in this posting.

  • Data type: multi-channel AUDIO
  • Labeling tasks: TRANSCRIPTION and EVALUATION_RATING
  • Employment: Contractor, Part-time
  • Time: 20+ hours/week
  • Language: Native Russian required
  • Location: Remote — worldwide

What you'll do

Work as a final QA reviewer across multi-speaker audio sessions and validated transcriptions, enforcing strict accuracy and safety standards.

  • Evaluate multi-channel audio for technical fidelity: detect channel bleed, background noise, clipping, and improper gain.
  • Confirm verbatim transcriptions meet strict accuracy and unnormalized rules, preserving overlaps, interruptions, false starts, and natural speech.
  • Validate turn-level and word-level timestamps and speaker identification, checking timestamp logic in JSON-formatted metadata.
  • Audit sessions for PII, toxic content, and other sensitive material; enforce safety and privacy rules.
  • Assign pass/fail or agree/disagree statuses and provide clear, actionable feedback for corrections.

Requirements

You must meet the core technical and language requirements below. The role is entry level in that formal years-of-experience are not required, but it demands high precision and familiarity with transcription QA workflows.

  • Native proficiency in Russian (required for transcription review).
  • Exceptional ear for audio fidelity; able to detect subtle noise, channel bleed, and clipping.
  • Meticulous attention to detail for verifying word-level timestamps and unnormalized verbatim transcription rules.
  • Ability to assess complex multi-speaker conversational dynamics, including overlaps and interruptions.
  • Comfort reading and validating JSON-formatted metadata and timestamp logic.

Helpful background

The following experience is a strong fit but not strictly required. Candidates with these backgrounds typically ramp faster on QA tasks and meet accuracy targets more reliably.

  • Experience as a transcriptionist with rigorous timestamping and quality targets.
  • Training or work in linguistics, phonetics, or speech-language studies.
  • Prior QA experience on multi-speaker audio or annotation workflows.

How it works / Next steps

Apply via your OpenTrain profile. If selected, you'll be contracted by OpenTrain AI, given onboarding materials that define fidelity and transcription rules, and provided examples and feedback guidelines to align with project targets.

Pay and scheduling details are provided during onboarding; this posting requires 20+ hours/week and accepts remote contributors worldwide. If you meet the language and QA requirements, create or update your OpenTrain profile and submit your application.

  • Onboarding includes test tasks and calibration to ensure consistency with project standards.
  • You will work remotely as a contractor and submit quality judgments and correction notes through provided tooling.
  • No pay rate is listed in this posting; compensation details will be shared during onboarding.
