About AI Training and Video Annotation

AI training is the human work behind modern artificial intelligence. Contributors prepare and review examples that help models understand visual information, recognize actions, and produce more reliable results.

In this role, your annotations turn robotic-arm video footage into structured data. Accurate action labels, timestamps, and event boundaries help AI systems learn from task executions and outcomes.

  • Remote work using video review and annotation tools
  • A direct role in improving machine learning systems
  • Flexible, project-based work in a fast-growing technology field

The Robotic Arm Video Annotation Specialist Role

OpenTrain is seeking an intermediate-level contractor to review recorded videos of robotic arms completing assigned tasks. You will identify meaningful actions and outcomes, segment footage on a timeline, and align every label with the visual evidence.

The work requires careful frame-level review and analytical judgment. You will follow detailed grading guidelines, document structured observations, and maintain consistent annotation quality across video sessions.

  • Employment type: Contractor and part-time
  • Experience level: Intermediate
  • Data type: Video
  • Annotation focus: Action recognition, segmentation, and evaluation rating

What You'll Do

  • Review robotic-arm videos and identify important actions, transitions, and outcomes.
  • Apply detailed grading guidelines to tag events and record structured observations.
  • Mark precise start and end timestamps for key actions and frame-accurate video segments.
  • Verify timestamp alignment and correct drift or inconsistencies between labels and footage.
  • Use video annotation platforms to document findings and submit datasets according to project standards and milestones.
  • Collaborate remotely with project trainers and contributors to resolve ambiguous cases and refine guidelines.
  • Participate in quality reviews and incorporate feedback to maintain rigorous annotation standards.

Required Skills and Background

Strong attention to detail is essential when reviewing and tagging visual data. You should be comfortable making careful judgments when footage is ambiguous and communicating observations clearly while working independently.

  • Experience reviewing and annotating video data, especially robotic or task-execution footage
  • Ability to mark frame-accurate event boundaries, timestamps, and transitions
  • Judgment for resolving ambiguous visual events using detailed grading guidelines
  • Familiarity with timeline-based annotation tools, timecodes, or frame-rate review
  • Understanding of AI training, machine learning data preparation, or robotics workflows
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable time management and self-organization for independent project work

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is suited to video annotators, data-labeling professionals, and careful visual reviewers who enjoy structured, detail-focused work. Previous annotation experience is helpful, especially with timeline interfaces, event segmentation, frame rates, timecodes, or frame-by-frame footage review.

A background in AI training, machine learning data preparation, or robotics can help you understand the project context, while analytical problem-solving skills will support consistent decisions in difficult cases.

  • Video annotation or comparable data-labeling experience is valuable
  • Robotics or task-execution footage experience is especially relevant
  • Intermediate-level applicants with strong visual judgment are encouraged to apply
