Why AI Training Work Matters
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building modern AI: people prepare, review, and curate the examples models learn from. This work is remote-friendly, often flexible, and gives contributors a direct role in shaping how advanced systems behave.
The Role
OpenTrain is hiring a Research and Document Review Specialist to support multidisciplinary AI training projects with high-quality, client-ready output. You will perform deep research, review and format Word and PDF materials, synthesize literature and industry data, and turn findings into clear reports and presentations.
Contractor, part-time role with a time expectation of 20+ hours per week.
Paid hourly with a posted range of $20–$55/hr and an advertised rate up to $55/hr.
Work remotely from anywhere; English required.
What You’ll Do
Conduct in-depth research and domain analysis in academic, legal, policy, healthcare, or finance topics.
Prepare, format, and review complex Word and PDF documents to client-ready standards.
Use tracked changes, form filling, and data extraction techniques in document workflows.
Evaluate and synthesize academic literature, legal documents, or industry data into concise summaries.
Translate findings into clear written reports and presentation materials.
Collaborate with cross-functional project teams and follow project-specific guidelines for accuracy and consistency.
Requirements
3+ years of professional research experience in academic, legal, policy, healthcare, or related sectors.
Master’s degree, PhD, or JD from a recognized institution (required).
Advanced Microsoft Word and PDF editing skills, including tracked changes and form workflows.
Proven ability to synthesize literature or industry data into concise, readable reports.
Excellent written and verbal communication and meticulous attention to detail.
Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines on complex, multidisciplinary deliverables.
Helpful Background (Preferred)
The following are not required but make an application stronger: prior work with Fortune 500 companies, experience in legal/healthcare/policy/financial operations document workflows, or publication/presentation experience in academic or industry settings.
How the Engagement Works
This is a contractor role with part-time hours (20+ per week) and hourly compensation up to $55. You will contribute to AI training projects by producing high-quality documentation and summaries that help train models and inform multidisciplinary teams.
OpenTrain supports contributors with a unified profile to showcase completed work and discover more AI training roles over time.
Who Should Apply
Experienced researchers, legal professionals, policy analysts, healthcare researchers, and advanced-degree holders who enjoy turning complex source material into clear, actionable documents should apply. If you have strong Word/PDF editing skills, a record of producing client-ready outputs, and want to contribute to how AI learns from real-world knowledge, this role fits.
