About AI Training Work

AI training (data labeling / annotation) is the human side of building modern AI: people prepare, review, and improve examples that models learn from. This role puts you on the front lines of improving Punjabi-language AI across customer support, education, conversational assistants, and general knowledge use cases.

Work is 100% remote, flexible, and accessible — many projects need language skill and attention to detail rather than prior AI experience. Specialized reviewers who understand cultural nuance and scripts (Gurmukhi or Shahmukhi) play a vital role in making models reliable and safe for Punjabi speakers.

The Role

OpenTrain is hiring Punjabi AI training language experts to review AI-generated Punjabi text, produce gold-standard reference answers, and evaluate model outputs for correctness, fluency, tone, cultural appropriateness, prompt adherence, and logical consistency. You will combine review, rewriting, fact-checking, and side-by-side comparison of model answers to raise Punjabi output quality.

• Pay: up to $15.00 USD per hour

What You’ll Do

Day-to-day work focuses on evaluating and improving Punjabi text generated by models. Tasks are rubric-driven and mix quick ratings with longer rewrite and reference-creation activities.

• Review AI-generated Punjabi responses for meaning, grammar, spelling, tone, register, and cultural fit
• Identify mistranslations, literal phrasing, hallucinations, ambiguity, and logic gaps
• Write polished Punjabi rewrites and gold-standard model answers
• Rate and compare multiple model outputs for correctness, fluency, structure, safety, and overall quality
• Create prompts and gold-standard Punjabi answers across common use cases
• Flag unsafe, misleading, or policy-risk content and suggest safer alternatives

Requirements

Candidates must meet the language, experience, and education expectations below. We will not invent or assume qualifications beyond what is listed.

• Native or near-native Punjabi reading and writing ability (Gurmukhi and/or Shahmukhi comfort required)
• Strong professional English proficiency for clear written feedback
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or related language-focused work
• Strong command of Punjabi grammar, spelling conventions, punctuation, tone, and style
• Ability to adapt language for formal, informal, and audience-specific contexts
• Prior AI data training, translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation experience preferred
