About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the centralized platform where people start and grow careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect freelancers with specialized AI training work, help build a unified portfolio, and make it easy to find, apply for, and manage contract projects.

OpenTrain contributors play a direct role in how modern AI systems learn. This role is part of that broader effort: you'll produce high-quality, human-created examples and documentation that AI models and annotators use to learn and stay consistent.

About AI training work

AI training (data labeling and annotation) is the human side of building intelligent systems. Annotators, documentation authors, and workflow designers create the examples, instructions, and evaluations that help models learn predictable, safe, and useful behavior.

These projects are often 100% remote and flexible, making them a good fit for part-time contractors who want to contribute meaningful, hands-on work to the next generation of AI.

The Role

You will work as a remote contractor designing, executing, and documenting multi-step product management and marketing workflows so they can be used as training material for annotators. Your work will capture actions, decision points, intent, outcomes, and supporting visuals from real operating practices.

Deliverables will be structured, clear workflow documents suitable for annotation tasks (including text generation and summarization work). You will also review scenarios for realism, flag ambiguity, and revise examples so they remain accurate and easy to follow.

What you'll do

  • Design and document multi-step product management and marketing workflows that reflect real operating practices.
  • Execute workflows in collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace) and capture the sequence of actions and decisions.
  • Include related context when useful: threads, shared documents, metrics, issue-tracking steps, and screenshots or visuals.
  • Produce clear step-by-step documentation with deliverables, intent statements, decision points, and supporting visuals.
  • Identify unrealistic or ambiguous scenarios, propose refinements, and update examples based on feedback.
  • Maintain high accuracy, consistency, and clarity across all submissions; outputs will support text-generation and text-summarization labeling tasks.

Requirements

This is an intermediate-level contractor role requiring hands-on experience and strong documentation skills. Work is remote and globally open to English speakers.

  • Hands-on experience in product management, product marketing, or growth marketing.
  • Frequent use of Slack and either Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
  • Proven ability to write structured business documents such as PRDs, briefs, trackers, roadmaps, and executive readouts.
  • Strong cross-functional communication, attention to detail, and ability to translate practice into clear process documents.
  • Availability for 20+ hours per week (part-time contractor).
  • English language fluency required.

Helpful background (nice-to-have)

  • Familiarity with product analytics or BI tools such as Amplitude, Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Exposure to basic SQL, Snowflake, or experience with GitHub issue/workflow management.
  • Experience producing visuals or screenshots to illustrate workflows and decision points.

Compensation, schedule & logistics

Pay is hourly and task-dependent: $13–$36 per hour, with rates varying by task complexity and experience. This is a contractor, part-time role with a typical commitment of 20+ hours per week.

Work is 100% remote and open worldwide to qualified English speakers. You will submit documentation and revisions through OpenTrain workflows and receive feedback to refine examples.

How to apply and who should apply

This role is ideal for experienced product managers, product marketers, or growth leads who enjoy writing clear process documentation and translating real-world practice into structured, teachable workflows for AI training.
