You will support AI training by analyzing advanced theoretical physics problems, creating and reviewing technical solutions, and assessing numerical results. Your work may focus on statistical physics, quantum information, or condensed matter theory.
You may contribute as a Solver, Auditor, or Adjudicator based on your research strengths. The work includes both detailed technical reasoning and clear documentation for AI systems.
- Analyze replicated random-bond Ising and Ashkin-Teller models, toric-code threshold behavior, and the Nishimori line.
- Develop, review, and critique solutions involving Kramers-Wannier duality, quenched disorder averaging, square-lattice self-duality, and domain-wall free energy.
- Run and interpret numerical simulations involving the 4-state Potts model.
- Investigate noncontractible loop defects and related topological features.
- Evaluate technical material through question answering and rating.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor role with flexible scheduling. The typical workload is 5 to 10 or more hours per week, within a less-than-20-hour weekly arrangement.
- Pay: $100 to $200 per hour.
- Location: remote, open to applicants in the United States.
- Language: Fluent English.
- Education: PhD or equivalent experience in physics.
- Specialization: Statistical physics, quantum information, or condensed matter theory.
- Research experience: Kramers-Wannier duality, quenched disorder averaging, and square-lattice self-duality.
- Technical ability: 4-state Potts model simulations and domain-wall free-energy analysis.
- Knowledge: Topological quantum codes, especially the toric code and its threshold phenomena.
- Communication: Explain complex technical reasoning clearly and document solutions carefully.
- Helpful tools: Python, SymPy, Jupyter, or LaTeX.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
The hiring platform's application for this job asks for your resume, your LinkedIn profile, your phone number, your location and answers to 10 screening questions.
About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples, including technical answers that people write, review, and rate. Specialists are paid for this work because their subject knowledge helps produce accurate training material and reliable evaluations.
