About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a Physics AI Response Evaluation Expert to design rigorous physics questions and assess AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, logical consistency, and physical validity. This project-based work supports the development of AI systems that need stronger physical reasoning, mathematical modeling, theoretical analysis, and quantitative problem-solving capabilities. The opportunity is structured for flexible participation alongside research, teaching, postdoctoral work, or industry employment.

What you will do
- Create domain-relevant questions grounded in advanced physics concepts
- Review AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy and physical validity
- Evaluate whether reasoning is logically consistent and mathematically sound
- Provide clear feedback on technical problem-solving across relevant physics subdisciplines

Required skills
- Doctoral study or a completed graduate degree in Physics or a closely related field
- Advanced understanding of physical reasoning and quantitative problem-solving
- Strong background in mathematical modeling and theoretical analysis
- Knowledge of areas such as classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, or related disciplines
- Ability to assess technical explanations for accuracy, coherence, and physical validity

Helpful background
Current doctoral students, PhD graduates, and postdoctoral researchers are encouraged to contribute. The work is fully remote with a flexible, asynchronous schedule, and contributors commonly work approximately 5-20 hours per week while participating in an active project. This is hourly contract work with compensation of up to $75 per hour. Prior AI or technical experience is not required.
