The role

You will serve as a Patient Access AI Evaluation Lead focused on improving AI tools used across patient access workflows: registration, pre-registration, scheduling, intake coordination, insurance verification, and point-of-service collections. This is a contract, part-time role requiring 20+ hours/week and is open to candidates located in the US.

Compensation is $80 per hour. Work centers on evaluating AI-generated text outputs, documenting observations, annotating examples for training datasets, and translating operational expertise into actionable feedback for model improvement.

What you'll do day-to-day

You will combine hands-on patient access experience with structured annotation and evaluation to improve AI performance in front-end revenue cycle tasks.

• Evaluate AI-generated outputs related to patient registration, scheduling, intake, and insurance verification and provide structured, actionable feedback.
• Annotate and document examples of correct and incorrect model behavior for training datasets (data type: text; label types: evaluation ratings and text-generation review).
• Monitor and report on patient access performance indicators such as registration accuracy, insurance verification rates, and front-end denial trends.
• Help reinforce registration policies, demographic capture standards, and point-of-service collection practices through clear feedback and example-based annotations.
• Support training and mentoring on registration best practices, SOP use, and compliance requirements for patient access teams.

Requirements

You must bring direct patient access or front-end revenue cycle experience, plus the leadership and documentation skills needed to translate operational practice into training signals for AI.

• Experience in patient access, patient registration, scheduling, or intake operations.
• Leadership experience in manager- or director-level patient access operations.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA, CMS guidelines, and payer requirements.
• Hands-on familiarity with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar EHR/registration systems.
• Experience developing SOPs, training materials, or operational documentation for patient access teams.
• Strong written and verbal English communication and high attention to detail.

Helpful background

These credentials and experiences make you especially competitive but are not strictly required.

• NAHAM CHAM or CHAA credential.
• Experience with denial prevention workflows at point of registration.
• Background working in hospitals, health systems, or large physician groups.
• Familiarity with conversational AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) and how they produce text outputs.
