About AI training and this role
AI training (data labeling, annotation, and human evaluation) is the human work that teaches models how to understand language, follow instructions, and produce safe, useful results. Evaluators directly improve model behavior by reviewing outputs, writing reference answers, and explaining quality judgments.
This role focuses on Odia language evaluation: comparing outputs, writing gold-standard responses, identifying mistranslation and register issues, and flagging policy risks so models perform better across customer support, education, and conversational tasks.
You will work on text-based evaluation, generation, and question-answering tasks.
Your feedback helps reduce errors like hallucinations, mistranslations, and cultural mismatches.
The role (contract, part-time)
OpenTrain is recruiting Odia language AI evaluators who can review AI-generated Odia responses, create high-quality reference answers, and provide clear written feedback in English. Contributors compare multiple model outputs and rate them for accuracy, fluency, tone, cultural appropriateness, and prompt adherence.
This is a contractor, part-time role requiring a minimum of 20+ hours per week. Work is remote but limited to applicants in India (IN), Bangladesh (BD), Indonesia (ID), and Thailand (TH).
Pay: USD $15.00 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR).
Minimum time commitment: 20+ hours/week.
Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
Allowed locations: IN, BD, ID, TH only.
Languages required: Odia (native or near-native) and professional English.
What you'll do
Your day-to-day work will center on evaluating AI-generated Odia text, producing gold-standard answers, and explaining quality decisions. Tasks combine careful linguistic judgment with practical rewriting and fact-checking.
You will use rubrics to score and rank outputs and provide constructive, precise feedback that guides model improvements.
Review AI-generated Odia content for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, and cultural fit.
Create high-quality Odia reference content and gold-standard answers.
Identify errors in meaning, mistranslation, register, ambiguity, and logic.
Fact-check claims when needed and rewrite responses for clarity and best practice.
Compare and rank multiple AI responses based on correctness and overall quality.
Detect unsafe, misleading, biased, or policy-risk language and document issues.
Requirements
You must be able to read and write Odia at a native or near-native level and provide detailed feedback in professional English. The role favors candidates with experience in translation QA, editorial QA, localization, or rubric-based evaluation, but it is open to entry-level contributors who meet the language requirements.
You will be expected to demonstrate strong attention to Odia grammar, spelling, punctuation, register variation, and audience adaptation.
Native or near-native Odia reading and writing ability (required).
Professional English writing skill to give detailed feedback (required).
Background in linguistics, translation, journalism, writing, editing, or localization (preferred).
Experience with translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred.
Comfort handling multiple registers, regional variety, and cultural sensitivity.
Who should apply
Apply if you care about high-quality Odia language output and can explain language judgments in English. Ideal contributors are detail-oriented, familiar with localization or editorial workflows, and interested in the technical side of how language models learn.
Entry-level applicants are welcome as long as they meet the core language and communication requirements; prior experience with AI evaluation or translation QA is a strong advantage.
Ideal for translators, editors, linguists, teachers, or writers fluent in Odia.
Good fit for people seeking steady part-time remote work with predictable hourly pay.
Applicants must be located in one of the allowed countries (IN, BD, ID, TH).
