OpenTrain is the #1 platform for starting and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help finance and other professionals find flexible, document-focused AI-training work, build a unified proof-of-work portfolio, and manage contract opportunities in one place.
Why AI training matters for finance pros
AI training is the human work behind how modern models learn to read, reason, and generate professional outputs. For finance experts, this means shaping model behavior by creating, judging, and explaining complex, document-heavy deliverables—directly influencing how AI handles accounting, modeling, and reconciliations.
The Role
You will work as a Non-Investment Finance Expert producing and evaluating CFO- or partner-ready finance deliverables from messy source documents. Tasks are document-centric: build and review reconciliations and models, analyze covenants and credit issues, allocate partnership or professional-services items, and write clear narratives explaining assumptions and recommendations.
Data type: document-based finance work (reconciliations, models, narratives).
Labeling tasks include evaluation/rating and text-generation (writing and reviewing deliverables).
Work arrangement: remote contract, part-time; flexible hours with a target of 20+ hours/week.
Compensation: $85 USD per hour.
What you'll do day-to-day
Build and review P&L and mark-to-market reconciliations, trader vs. accounting marks, month-end marks, commissions, and adjustments.
Perform vendor and AP payment reconciliations, PO and P-card controls, and aging-based accounts-payable analysis.
Develop linked 3-statement and pro forma models, including purchase-accounting impacts, deferred revenue haircut treatments, PPA amortization, and synergy phasing.
Distill material facts from distracting or ambiguous source details and communicate findings in clear, decision-ready finance language.
Prepare CFO/partner-ready narratives that explain assumptions, variances, and recommendations.
Requirements
5+ years in hands-on non-investment finance roles such as product control, financial control, corporate FP&A, technical accounting, treasury, financial operations, AP/P2P, commercial-banking credit, or partnership finance.
Advanced Excel modeling skills including linked 3-statement models, reconciliations, and pro formas.
Strong US GAAP and IFRS knowledge; experience with ASC 805 (purchase accounting) and ASC 606 is a bonus.
Comfort exercising professional judgment when working from incomplete, messy, or ambiguous source documents.
CPA, CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent credential strongly preferred.
Helpful background and who should apply
This role suits experienced operational and technical finance professionals who are comfortable translating detailed accounting and modeling work into concise, actionable narratives. CFA or portfolio-management experience is explicitly not required. Strong written communication and a track record of producing peer-ready finance deliverables are valuable.
Compensation, schedule, and logistics
This is a contract, part-time engagement paid at $85 per hour. Work is remote and flexible; contributors typically target 20+ hours per week but schedules can be adjusted to fit your availability. Open to worldwide applicants who can work in English.
