The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting an Investment Operations and Fund Accounting Analyst to complete self-contained exercises and produce analyst deliverables for AI training. The work combines investment operations judgment with precise written explanations of reconciliations, NAV movements, trade breaks, corporate actions, and payment exceptions.

This contractor, part-time opportunity is available to candidates in the United States. The listing is marked entry level, but applicants must have at least three years of relevant fund administration or investment operations experience.

What You'll Do

You will analyze mock financial operations files and create clear, accurate deliverables. Exercises are self-contained and assessed using rubric-based quality standards, so careful documentation and consistent reasoning are important.

  • Reconcile ledgers against custodian or bank statements.
  • Isolate residual differences, explain their causes, and prepare reconciliations with adjusting entries.
  • Attribute NAV movements, identify components outside tolerance, and write clear variance commentary.
  • Investigate breaks between systems, determine root causes, classify breaks, propose corrections, and document investigations.
  • Process corporate-action events and calculate account entitlements.
  • Handle payment or transfer exceptions.
  • Match inconsistent merchant or vendor descriptions to a canonical registry.

Required Qualifications

You should bring at least three years of experience in fund administration or investment operations. Relevant experience may include fund accounting, reconciliations, corporate actions, trade support, middle-office work, or payment operations.

Hands-on experience with the listed financial operations tasks is required. You must also be able to work independently on self-contained exercises and explain financial operations decisions clearly in writing.
