About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of developing modern AI systems. Experts create examples, review model outputs, and evaluate whether responses are accurate, useful, and aligned with professional standards. In this role, your financial expertise will help train advanced systems to reason more reliably about analysis, valuation, modeling, and investment decisions.

  • Contribute to cutting-edge AI development
  • Apply real professional judgment to realistic financial tasks
  • Work remotely with a flexible schedule around a consistent weekly commitment

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an experienced Financial and Investment Analyst for a contract, part-time AI-training role. You will create, evaluate, and refine realistic, high-difficulty tasks covering financial modeling, valuation, investment research, portfolio analysis, forecasting, and risk assessment.

The role requires a commitment of 20 or more hours per week and overlap with Pacific Standard Time. You will also help ensure that AI-generated financial insights are technically accurate, practically relevant, and consistent with professional standards.

  • Contractor position
  • Part-time commitment of 20+ hours per week
  • PST overlap required
  • English-language work
  • Available to applicants in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia

What You’ll Do

You will combine advanced financial analysis with structured evaluation and quality assurance. Your work will help define what strong financial reasoning looks like for AI systems and support consistent quality across the project.

  • Create high-difficulty expert tasks and gold-standard solutions in financial analysis and modeling.
  • Review and calibrate team members’ output to maintain day-to-day quality.
  • Escalate genuine edge cases and unclear rubric requirements to the Functional SME Lead.
  • Apply DCF, comparable-company, precedent-transaction, and asset-based valuation methodologies.
  • Build and evaluate three-statement, LBO, merger, credit, forecasting, and scenario models.
  • Assess investment opportunities, risks, assumptions, and evidence-based recommendations.

Required Qualifications

This position is intended for professionals with substantial experience in financial analysis, investment research, and modeling. Candidates should be able to evaluate complex financial work, challenge assumptions, and explain conclusions using sound evidence.

  • 8 to 15 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, asset management, credit, equity research, or corporate finance.
  • CFA, CAIA, MBA, or equivalent qualification; substantial front-office or investment-desk experience may also be considered.
  • Expert knowledge of DCF, comparable-company, precedent-transaction, and asset-based valuation.
  • Advanced experience with three-statement, LBO, merger, credit, forecasting, and scenario models.
  • Proven investment judgment in evaluating opportunities, assessing risks, challenging assumptions, and presenting evidence-based recommendations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in any field.

Helpful Background

Prior experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, quality assurance, or a related analytical role is preferred but not required. The most important foundation is strong financial expertise and the ability to apply it consistently when creating and reviewing complex tasks.

  • Investment banking or private equity experience with financial modeling
  • Proficiency in DCF, comparable-company, and precedent-transaction valuation
  • Three-statement, LBO, merger, and scenario modeling skills
  • CFA, CAIA, or MBA credential, or substantial front-office experience
  • Experience reviewing analytical work for accuracy and practical relevance
