About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role, connecting contributors with practical projects that help shape how modern AI systems understand and respond to people.

  • Free account creation and a straightforward application process
  • Remote opportunities across the growing AI training industry
  • A way to build experience contributing to real AI development

About AI Speech Training

AI systems learn from carefully prepared examples of human speech. Transcription and audio labeling contributors help create accurate training data by recording what speakers said, identifying unclear segments, and applying consistent guidelines to imperfect audio.

  • Flexible remote work that can fit around other commitments
  • Human review that directly supports the development of AI technology
  • An accessible entry point for people with strong language and listening skills

The Role

OpenTrain is hiring native French speakers currently located in France for long-term conversational speech transcription work. You will listen to short French recordings and create clean, standardized transcripts that reflect the audio accurately. This is transcription, not translation or creative writing.

The expected workload is approximately one hour per day, Monday through Friday, for 12 months or longer. The schedule is flexible, so you can complete your daily tasks at a time that works for you. The rate is $15 per hour, and the engagement is offered on a part-time contractor basis.

  • Pay: $15 per hour
  • Schedule: approximately 1 hour per day, Monday through Friday
  • Duration: long-term, ongoing work for 12+ months
  • Workload: less than 20 hours per week
  • Location: applicants must currently be based in France

What You'll Do

Your work will focus on accurate listening, transcription, and verification. You will follow predefined platform options rather than improvising labels or rewriting the speaker’s words.

  • Listen to short French recordings and produce clean, standardized transcripts
  • Preserve what was said instead of translating or creatively rewriting the audio
  • Complete simple listening-based verification and labeling tasks
  • Flag audio that is unclear or unusable
  • Mark segments that cannot be understood confidently
  • Distinguish minor mispronunciations from clearly different words
  • Apply detailed rules consistently, even when audio quality is imperfect

Requirements

This role requires native France French ability, excellent written accuracy, and strong listening judgment. Careful adherence to transcription conventions is more important than speed.

  • Native French speaker with France French language ability
  • Currently located in France
  • Excellent French spelling, accents, punctuation, capitalization, and standard writing conventions
  • Strong listening accuracy and careful judgment with imperfect audio
  • Comfort following strict guidelines without improvising
  • Reliable internet connection and a computer suitable for web-based tools
  • Quality headphones and a quiet work environment
  • Willingness to complete a short French transcription screening sample before starting

Preferred Experience

Prior experience is helpful but not required for this entry-level opportunity. Experience with transcription, captioning, subtitling, speech data labeling, or quality assurance is preferred.

  • Transcription or captioning experience
  • Subtitling experience
  • Speech data labeling or quality assurance experience
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and consistency
