The Role
OpenTrain is hiring native French speakers currently located in France for long-term conversational speech transcription work. You will listen to short French recordings and create clean, standardized transcripts that reflect the audio accurately. This is transcription, not translation or creative writing.
The expected workload is approximately one hour per day, Monday through Friday, for 12 months or longer. The schedule is flexible, so you can complete your daily tasks at a time that works for you. The rate is $15 per hour, and the engagement is offered on a part-time contractor basis.

What You'll Do
Your work will focus on accurate listening, transcription, and verification. You will follow predefined platform options rather than improvising labels or rewriting the speaker’s words.
Listen to short French recordings and produce clean, standardized transcripts
Preserve what was said instead of translating or creatively rewriting the audio
Complete simple listening-based verification and labeling tasks
Flag audio that is unclear or unusable
Mark segments that cannot be understood confidently
Distinguish minor mispronunciations from clearly different words
Apply detailed rules consistently, even when audio quality is imperfect
Requirements
This role requires native France French ability, excellent written accuracy, and strong listening judgment. Careful adherence to transcription conventions is more important than speed.

Excellent French spelling, accents, punctuation, capitalization, and standard writing conventions
Strong listening accuracy and careful judgment with imperfect audio
Comfort following strict guidelines without improvising
Reliable internet connection and a computer suitable for web-based tools

Willingness to complete a short French transcription screening sample before starting
Preferred Experience
Prior experience is helpful but not required for this entry-level opportunity. Experience with transcription, captioning, subtitling, speech data labeling, or quality assurance is preferred.
