The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a French Audio Transcriptionist to create accurate French transcripts from real-world conversational recordings. The role centers on careful listening, precise written French, and consistent use of transcription conventions.

You will work independently in a remote environment and maintain reliable quality across repeated transcription tasks. Prior experience in AI training is not required.

What You'll Do

You will listen closely to French-language recordings and produce detailed, accurate transcripts. The audio may include multiple speakers, overlapping speech, crosstalk, background noise, regional accents, slang, and natural conversational nuance.

You will document the audio according to applicable guidelines, including the treatment of filled pauses, spoken disfluencies, non-verbal sounds, and inaudible segments. You will also apply required style and formatting rules consistently.

• Transcribe French-language conversational recordings accurately
• Distinguish between multiple speakers, including during overlapping speech
• Handle background noise, regional accents, slang, and natural speech patterns
• Capture filled pauses, disfluencies, and non-verbal sounds according to guidelines
• Mark inaudible segments appropriately
• Maintain consistent quality across repeated transcription assignments
• Work independently in a remote environment

Requirements

You should have native or near-native French fluency, including strong comprehension of regional expressions and conversational slang. Excellent French spelling and grammar, exceptional listening ability, and close attention to detail are essential.

You must be comfortable handling imperfect audio, distinguishing speakers, and following detailed transcription style and formatting guides. A reliable, methodical, and self-directed approach is important. This is an entry-level opportunity, and prior AI training experience is not required.
