The Work

You will support AI training by listening closely to short real-world recordings and documenting what can be heard. Your work will combine music analysis, audio annotation, and review of AI-generated descriptions.

You will use quality headphones to analyze 30- to 90-second clips, including recordings made in busy or noisy settings. You will make structured annotations, add timestamps, and write short notes supported by what you hear.

  • Identify instruments, tempo, musical key, crowd reactions, traffic, sirens, applause, and other background sounds.
  • Record the timing of audible events with timestamps, dropdowns, and structured notes.
  • Compare paired recordings of the same song and identify which characteristics stay consistent or change between locations.
  • Review AI-generated descriptions and mark details as correct, wrong, or invented, with brief evidence-based comments.
  • Take part in a paid onboarding and calibration session and a short weekly sync.

  • Location: Open to candidates in the listed countries across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

  • Experience: At least three years of hands-on music or audio experience.
  • Listening skills: Ability to analyze busy, noisy recordings, identify tempo within a few beats per minute, and determine musical key. A reference is permitted for relative pitch.
  • Equipment: Quality headphones, a quiet workspace, and reliable internet.
  • Helpful backgrounds include performing or gigging musician, session player, producer, mixing engineer, music educator, ear-training instructor, band or choir director, conservatory student or graduate, location sound recordist, sound designer, foley artist, or podcast or documentary audio editor.
