About AI training and TTS work

AI training (also called data labeling or data annotation) is the human side of building machine intelligence. For text-to-speech (TTS), people record natural voice examples and follow precise guidelines so models learn clarity, tone, pacing, and emotional range.

This role puts you on the cutting edge of voice AI: your recordings will help shape how conversational and expressive synthetic Spanish voices sound in real products.

The role

OpenTrain is hiring a Mexican Spanish voice actor to record and evaluate audio for TTS training. You will produce clean, professional voice samples across varied scripts and styles while maintaining a consistent Mexican Spanish accent.

Employment type: Contractor, Part-time. Pay: $50 USD per hour. Location: must be a native Mexican Spanish speaker currently based in Mexico. Experience level: Entry level (experience preferred).

What you'll do

You will record conversational, narrative, instructional, and other scripted material with natural delivery and precise diction. Follow recording guidelines for microphone setup, environment, and file formatting.

  • Record clear, expressive speech with controlled tone, pacing, pronunciation, and emotion.
  • Maintain consistent voice and accent across sessions while switching style when requested.
  • Deliver audio that meets professional cleanliness standards and project formatting rules.
  • Follow scripts closely while keeping performances natural and engaging.

Time commitment and schedule

Structured time requirement: 20+ hours per week. The role description also references a pace of 5–10 hours per week for some tasks; project workloads and schedules can vary. Confirm expected weekly hours during onboarding.

Requirements

You must meet all required skills and technical prerequisites below to be considered.

  • Native Mexican Spanish speaker currently based in Mexico.
  • Experience in voice acting, dubbing, narration, podcasting, or broadcasting.
  • Access to a professional or near-professional recording setup and a quiet recording environment.
  • Strong command of diction, intonation, emotional range, and consistent delivery.
  • Ability to follow scripts precisely and meet detailed recording guidelines.

Helpful background

The following are not required but make your application stronger and may match you to higher-value projects.

  • Prior recording experience for TTS, audiobooks, IVR systems, or AI voice datasets.
  • Familiarity with audio editing tools such as Audacity, Adobe Audition, or Reaper.
  • Ability to perform multiple vocal styles (conversational, corporate, energetic, calm).

How the process works

Apply through your OpenTrain profile. If selected, you'll receive detailed recording guidelines, sample scripts, and technical specs. Work is submitted as audio files and evaluated for quality and guideline compliance.

OpenTrain helps you document this work on your profile so you can show verified experience to future projects and grow your AI training portfolio over time.
