The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Mechanical Simulation and CAE AI Training Expert to contribute technical expertise to AI training focused on advanced engineering workflows. You will document how coding agents support complex mechanical simulation and computer-aided engineering tasks, including multi-step reasoning, code generation, large-codebase navigation, debugging, and engineering judgment.

This is a contractor, part-time role listed at the entry level, while the work itself requires extensive hands-on experience in mechanical simulation and CAE-heavy mechanical engineering. Prior AI experience is not required when you bring strong domain expertise in these areas.

What You'll Do

You will provide detailed walkthroughs of how AI coding agents are used in complex mechanical simulation and CAE tasks. You will demonstrate and document workflows from problem definition through implementation, debugging, and evaluation.

You will explain the engineering problems and design challenges addressed by AI-generated code sequences, curate representative technical examples, and describe the rationale and complexity behind those examples. You will also assess AI tools in mechanical simulation and CAE and provide clear written and verbal feedback.

The role includes asynchronous collaboration with project leads through effective, precise communication.

  • Demonstrate end-to-end solution development and architectural changes
  • Describe engineering rationale, design decisions, and technical complexity
  • Curate representative examples for AI training

Requirements

You should have extensive practical experience with mechanical engineering simulation and computer-aided engineering workflows. You must be able to apply AI coding agents to ambiguous requirements, large-scale debugging, sophisticated engineering challenges, or architectural changes.

Practical proficiency with Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, or Claude Cowork as coding sequence generators in technical settings is valuable. You should also be able to translate complex workflows into concise documentation and actionable feedback.

Helpful Background

Active involvement in a current STEM field, familiarity with AI-driven engineering tools, and a record of experimenting with and adapting to new technologies are valuable. Experience documenting technical workflows and evaluating technology performance is also helpful.
